I have a suggestion, for myself... just wanted to share to get second opinions, if needed :tongevil:
Just like the CaH, I never ever ever use the Bombard ability for Archers - regardless of faction/race. And afaIk the AI don't use it (would be very hard coded). Also, the bombard anims are glitchy for most models (unless we use regular that looks weird)! So, to ease the burden (and to free slots) I want to remove this ability. Any objections should come with great arguments... so? What say you? :crazed:

Rarely use it also. It would be fine with me if it was gone.

The only reason to keep it in would be if you made it stronger. It takes what time .1% of an enemies health? The only good Bombard is the one bought from the Special Abilities power. I think it would be fine to take it out and replace it with the fire arrow ability slow

Yeah, that's what I was thinking... the new FA is a first button ability atm, that will require the tech, but you will be able to get it fast and in somewhat early game. And this can be used by the AI, just like other upgrades and abilities, so I think it should replace the Bombard indeed. Especially considering the other reasons as well. The anims suck due to very hard coded references (bombard anims are usually divided into several, 3 or more, that must be linked perfecty to get a flawless movement). I was merely thinking if anyone had a strong argument to keep them? ^_^

It's only useful when your enemy is standing on flamable ground :tongevil:>: D

Yeah I agree, and since we no longer can fire 1.000.000 flaming arrows at the rate of a bumblebee, but instead use them only as an ability with recharge, the Bombard is even more useless :xd: I made bombard "weapons" to go along with the new archer system, just in case. But I'll disable the buttons in game, until otherwise is proven.

You wont be able to use fire arrows that way, so with the balance in SEE, arrows are pointless against structures. For units, perhaps, but the AI dont build walls and they dont use the bombard... so it's only a human v/s human player thing. Dont think it's worth the sloppy anims and the occuoied slot :ermm:
