The way I SEE it, the player is sort of a "god" of their own in Middle Earth controlling and micro managing his/her faction, issuing orders and casting spells. But the powers of the Spell Book should still reflect the "theme" of the faction... their concept, heritage and ambitions - their soul if you will! So in another attempt to further highten the overall quality of SEE - here is the place where I will list what we decide upon for all the faction's Spell Books of powers - all according to the rules and ideas above!


We here as a the whole of the SEE team have done our best to bring you the best of each faction in each spellbook! We bring you a unique asset of powers for each of those and hope you will enjoy them just as much as we did during their creation!

GONDOR

Gather strong storm winds, throwing enemy units around and causing heavy damage!
(NOTE: Use the tornado FX, way toned down, to look like really strong gushes of air, instead of a tornado with lightning!)

Raises a relentless flood of powerful elven magic that crushes enemy buildings into smitherines and drown their units, even heroes!

Gives +100% (double) resources from harvesting trees!

Targeted enemy structure slowly falls into decay, until either the structure has been destroyed or a repair spell has been cast on it!
(NOTE: Spell button goes grey until the spell has been cancelled, only than shall the recharge timer start.)

Summons the giant spider queen, Shelob - guardian of the Pass of Cirith Ungol, under the caster's control!

- DARKNESS

- WATCHER IN THE WATER
Summons the giant water creature from the gates of Moria, killing anyone who comes close!

- STONE GIANTS
Summons a group of the extremely powerful Stone Giants of the Misty Mountains under the caster's control!

- ABYSS
Opens a giant crack leading deeping inside the earth, instantly killing all who stand above it.
(NOTE: Use a good texture with normal map together with various fx's including smoke to create the illusion of depth!)

(NOTE: Long recharge timer, as this in an exceptionally good spell for the 1st tier!)

- EYE OF SAURON
Calls upon the Eye of Sauron! Reveals stealthed enemies and causes fear! Allies gain +25% damage and earn experience 50% faster!

- BARREN LANDS
Taints an area of terrain with desert lands. All enemy units lose -25% armor and -25% speed and all their leadership bonuses!

- TRIBESMEN OF FAR HARAD
Summons several hordes of Mahûd Tribesmen under the caster's control!

- MIRAGE
4 identical copies of the targeted hero are made, each killed instantly by any hit!
(NOTE: Add a sandy wind style FX, and perhaps some sort of way to randomly switch around the hero and it's mirages!)

- OASIS
Creates a rare small oasis, from the deserts of Harad. Nearby allied units are healed by it and gain +50% speed!

- GIANT SCORPIONS
Summons a horde of Giant Scorpions from Far Harad under the caster's control!

Thnx for the tip, although I used Nazgûl's plan as a base, and he used those at the end.

No I am not trying to push the blame towards him, but it's just strange people just noticed with this newer version.

Also, "Medical Attention" doesn't sound very LotR-ish. Maybe call it Skillful Healing or something similar.

The Tornado ability for Isengard is kind of cool,but it doesnt really fit their theme.How about a spell that would summon a large host of UrukHai,complete with a couple of battering rams and a couple of ballista,with a unit of Uruk Captains leading it?That would fit Isengard perfectly for a tier 4 spell.What do u guys think?

First reason not to do it is it's yet another summon, 2ndly it's too similar to In Service of Sauron, and last but not least: It's an awesome spell, and I don't see why it wouldn't work out? Saruman gathered a dark cloud/storm around Isengard and he used lightning, spells are not always done by the "gods" normal heroes can also be the source of the spell, why would they have to be on the battlefield? Lots of common figures never even went to the battlefield.

I appreciate your contribution and will patiently await others responses, but if it were up to me it would stay the way it is.

I like all the weather spells for isengard!


I do not like the numenor stonework spell. What if instead of repairing it just temporarily boosted a selected structures defense? Allowing it to hold out longer? Seems useful and different to me.

Yeah,RB,you are probally right.I didnt realize that it was that similar to In Service of Sauron,but now that I look at it,you are right.I still like it,though.Maybe on the Tornado spell,when u activate it,U can hear Saruman chanting from his tower,like in the movie.That would be killer.Just an idea to think about.

It's Numenor Craftsmanship, I don't really see how it wouldn't work as a repair, although it may make more sense to have it PERMENANTLY boost a structure's defense; craftmanship can't suddenly dissapear.

Doing that would render Gondor defenseless against Moria's awesome deteriorate, you should think about that. Would you want to be slowly doomed because Numenor Craftsmanship is a PERMENANT buff and not a repair?

I would say change the name Tornado to Storm. Makes more sense since its gonna have lightning and rain?


The way I see it, it will be stationary so it's not exactly a tornado, although I think Nazgûl would hate to see it go...

I would say Saruman chanting would be more for the avalanche because in the movies when he does the chant the lightning hits the rocks and forms the avalanche if I'm remembering the part correctly. Took place when they were on Carahras or something?

I was thinking today about aragorn and his status with gondor in relation to the films, I came to the conclusion that aragorn should require a passive in the tier 3 spell book "return of the king" to become recruitable. This puts aragorn as mid-late game hero. I think the "oath of eorl " spell should get moved into tier 2 replacing the "tower of the dome" or "hobbit militia".

Thoughts?

I'm not so sure... that only happens in ROTK... Plus it would screw up our armor system for the heroes.

It's a nice idea, but due to the way SEE is setup right now it would not fit with the system.
