As most of you know (most likely) by now, 'Source' Has been leaked and people all over are downloading it. Please refrain from doing so unless you A) want a virus, or B) like huge porn movies. The hl2_src.rar file from sites alll over has contained one or the other, each is 1.3GB in size.
Microsoft's vulnerabilities allowed this to happen. With an unstable outlook express the hacker imported a keylogger to watch the network connection for passwords, usernames, ect. A few different sets of files were used to enter Valve's network. One set of files, to my understanding, gives the hacker the ability to regain access even if passwords and usernames are changed.
Quite a few people around the half-life 2 community think that this is the reason for the delay since the hacker could now obtain/create cheatcodes within hl2 and the cs community of cheaters will happen all over again.

stino youre mis-using a word here. You hate CRACKERS, not hackers. And 'hackers' in video games are pussies, to use the correct term 
They didn't write the cheating programs, theyre using other peoples code, which makes it extremely lame

oh don't worry about it, it's been verified (and re-verified) that the game can't be run with just the source code. The code doesn't include the images and objects it uses after all, so compiling it wouldn't do ya too much good.
This game just better live up to expectations heh... I have no doubt it will, but if it didn't that would blow big time

First of all, yes, I like large porn movies, but that's not the point. The beta is real, the source code is real, and as long as you don't do anything stupid (for instance: "Hey, it's the HL2 fullversion on KaZaA! And only 12KB!") you won't get a virus from it.
And the delay was not caused by the hacker, but because the game was not finised yet.
