Hey, i have a nice mod idea: A game about Avatar (the last airbender, not the james cameron version)
It would fit great into BFME I or II. The time and environment are not to different, and avatar has a few badass factions (especially Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation).
The series also know:
Infantry: standard footsoldiers, earth/water/air/firebenders. Maybe elite forces such as the dai li, kyoshi warriors,
Cavalry: ostrich riders/ komodo rhino cavalry etc.
Heroes: dozens of them!
Special units: Think of fire nation tanks, earth kingdom stone tanks and catapults, water tribe boats. And ofcourse airships.

I think the concept would fit right into the game, and i think the engine can handle it perfectly.
I'm not sure wether to use BFME I or II.
I myself have a bit experience in modding, but not too much in this particular game. I can sketch and maybe model units, and come up with scenarios.
If you're interested in helping me out, please let me know.

Yours faithfully.

The big hurdle is animations.
BFME simply doesn't have suitable animations.

You''l have to decide which animation skeletons seem to fit a boy who fights with a long stick
Maybe Saruman's as he has a staff ?

Then the powers can come in

Air: Pushback , Tornado , Word of power , vortex
Fire : Fireball , Fire Pillars , Rain of fire ,
Earth : Bombard , Earthquake , Rock toss ,
Water : Rain , Flood Horse , Ice shot , Avalanche

The powers can be endless based off BFME2

The Flying Bison can be based off the mumakil with an Eagle flying code ( wha ..??? ) :crazed:
garrisoning is easy ..but then toggling to flying mode ..will the units STILL be garisonned ?

And firedrakes can be the fire-nation's mounts
The Easterlings look fire-nation-ish
The dwarven structure look Earth kingdom
You'll need a few tank models etc

I see the biggest hurdle is the models ..then bind them to appropriate skeletons

But in all do-able ..

The workload for a project like this enormous.

From a gameplay perspective too there are difficulties.
In Avatar half the rank and file are benders, you'd have a case of units with hero powers which would be tricky to manage in game.

I had thought of the same idea a few years ago and while it sounds good on paper there are a lot of issues with the idea.

For sure ..but if they ever bring out more movies on the 'Books' ,Book1 : Water etc

I may be inspired about it ..it will be a situation of copy/pasting existing powers

Loved the Nickelodean series ...saw almost all ..shame it ended

I'd leave the Bending to Heroes or mini-hero units ...hordes get one or two powers
I'd also have a just an "Ang and Allies" fation VS fire-nation
it would be more fun in a campaign setting

Hmm I'm a bit inspired ...maybe my next project?? ..who knows

I think it would be a nice mod to have but things like modelling, skinning and animating would require a lot of work :p
But who knows...
