If I play Outer Rim the game gets jerky and laggy when I put my mouse over a planet with stuff on it. It also takes a helluva long time to load. Whilst I wouldn't call it completely game breaking it makes everything too jerky and slow to be very enjoyable.
Is it my computer or some other problem? This is not unique to 1.2, btw, but to 1.1 as well, and possibly some older versions.

(...) the lag is barely noticeable on GFFA and completely nonexistent on IR, and the AI actually plays the game (...)
Could you please write specs of your PC to make some insights for me what computer should I buy for the mod ?
Looking at Gamefront.com I feel that mod is rather popular now

4 gigs of RAM, ATI Radeon HD 4800, Intel Core2 Duo E8400 3.00 GHz CPU and Windows Vista 64-bit. Hope that helps.

they don't really affect it negatively and are typically very good even when using discrete. With the new nvidia optimis you can switch between the onboard and discrete automatically to save power when your not running anything intense. All in all they're good little chips.I have the E8400 as well. It's a couple years old, but works well for FoC. I'm kind of skeptical about the newer CPUs with onboard graphics, seems like a needless redundancy.

Actually I rarely have GPU problems. I actually forgot specifically what 4000 series it is, but it aint bad, I can run EaW at high detail in land or space tactical with few problems unless there's ungodly swarms of units, and even then it is managable. The processor certainly contributes most to GC performance, but your graphics card is also rather out of date. That will mostly impact land and space tactical battles.
My main issue is GC lagging...mainly when I mouseover my own planets.

First, if I have a hero on the planet's surface, does his bonus affect space battles? (For example you have General Dodonna on Yavin 4, would the starfighters battling in space above the planet have the benefit of his leadership?) Or do they have to be present in the actual battle to have an effect?
Second, if a hero is killed are they gone for good? Can they be rebuilt at one of their home locations, or is dead dead?
Finally, do you think we could add Tatooine to Obi-Wan's buildable planet list? it maybe fits with cannon better than having to take Coruscant in order to build him! I'd do that, I just feel killing off the Emperor at the start of the game (when Coruscant will be at it's most vulnerable to raids) might somewhat kill the obsessively cannonical game I'm trying to play LOL. Is there a way I can edit his registry entry to do this for myself?
