You can upgrade heroes in that way but not ordinary ships.

but not ordinary ships.

I know it was somewhat discussed before but could it be possible to find a way to upgrade ordinary units? Making a unit a generic hero perhaps? Just curious.

If it's hard then it's worth doing.

It would be really, really, really time consuming to even attempt something like that. We already have issues with generic heroes and population.

How'd you like to see your build menu then? :p
Don't think it's possible to add to the right-click menu.

I was just wondering about the feasibility of it all, thanks for answering.

Now THAT would be a kick-ass feature. :thumbsupxd:

I am having glitch/buggy issues in the game. I am playing scenario GFFA and I am in week 130 (slow rolling it to understand how the game is played) and I am the Rebels. I am noticing that when I go into space battles, certain ships are not "highlightable" with the cursor and it disrupts my ability to highlight my entire fleet (to control) the next time around. Also, once the glitch happens, i am not able to click or highlight a group of units to control on land battles. So once the units malfunction, manually fighting in the game is nonexistent.

I thought the problems existed with fleets mixing with other fleets, so i attacked with other fleets and kept them separate. I was thinking a particular unit was causing the problem. It doesn't matter.

Basically I think it is a starfighter unit that is causing the problem initially. When the glitch happens, the next time I go into Space battle, all my starfighter units appear at the Beginning point BEFORE the entire fleet flies in. I have deleted lone starfighter units from my fleet, but I still get the glitch with the fighters that get produced by the capital ships.

in other words, any help would be appreciative. I hate having to constantly go back and forth thru saved files to a point where the battles don't glitch.

Unfortunately this is a known issue with no known solution. It eventually reaches a point where the fleets are not selectable in galactic mode. We're not entirely sure why it happens but we hope that changes we're making will alleviate the problem. Until then, I can only suggest trying one of the smaller campaigns or paring your fleets down so they have fewer different unit types in them.

Hmm... quick idea, not sure if it'd work. Try clicking and right-clicking on empty space a couple times. Then try selecting stuff again.

The other thing to watch for is to make sure your fleet does not have more than ~ i think 60 ~ separate unit types as the fleet window only has 60 unit tabs.

Once you get more that 60 EAW starts to sulk big time. Make sure you don't have hundreds of unit variants. Sell off obsolte models to keep fleets to a minimum number of types.

34 is the cutoff - 7x5, minus the vanguard. Any more and units start to fall off the interface.

Space skirmish multiplayer should work but galactic conquest does not.

The only bad part about the game that I've noticed is just the lag on the bigger campaign maps and the fact you can't have the research on multiplayer GC games.

Havent been in for a while I stopped by to catch up and see if anything new has been posted...sadly all ive seen is comments in here about glitches that are being fixed. Thank you for that.

Any idea on what to expect in the new version and an estimated time till it comes out? And if you can answer either thanks. I know the time frame is a difficult one to answer so im not expecting a "dead line" type of answer im just wondering if its sometime this year or sometime next kinda thing.

And I still love the mod and the fact that it IS the most thurogh and well planned out/executed mod for this game yall have done a great job keep it up!!!!

It is kind of a pain to go through your empire and sell off ships of older research and replace with new.

I also went through and deleted unit types I don't make. So the unit types that I get in the beginning of the game for the Rebels are a hodge-podge of different player types (i.e corporate and empire). Still it didn't work. Ive tried to limit the fleet types so that if i had two different ship variables of the same ship, they don't go into battle with me. I still get the glitch.

I think the best solution is to have the ability to upgrade all ships to current research type. This would probably stop the game from glitching. It is not conducive to delete and add ships of a research type, when research queues are long to begin with.

I actually like having old models of the various ships and having to manage that, it adds a bit of realism as not every ship would be compatible with new components or even practical to refurbish. Iv'e never had debilitating lag though.
