Might want to try a different browser if GameFront is giving you problems. I didn't have any with it in Firefox.

It sounds like your DirectX drivers aren't up to date.

Phoenix, I was thinking about getting a new computer and was wondering if you think this machine can run v1.2:

Just wanna know if you think it can handle it! :)

I have something worse than that and it runs smoothly. It will run perfectly, don't worry.

Gumball, that would work! If you're buying specifically for EaW, note that extra CPU cores after dual are mostly irrelevant, since EaW can only utilize one core (single isn't ideal because it'd have to share time with the OS). That means speed is important - 4.0 Ghz dual would beat a 3.0 Ghz quad. Fast write speed on your HD will help with the saves in GC before every battle. Unfortunately, the galactic frame rate is not tied to graphics card performance, but rather is an engine bottleneck.

Ok, thanks for the info! I wouldn't say I'm upgrading only for EAW, more like EAW made me realize it was time for an upgrade! Basically my machine was top-o-the-line nearly 8 years ago! and I think my CPU is packing it in, I takes longer and longer to start up, and just to open a program like iTunes or even Mozilla take anywhere from 2-5 minutes, I don't think it was that bad a couple of years ago...

The only real demanding game I play on PC anymore really is this mod, I play a bit of Diablo II, some KotOR I & II, the original Deus Ex and Rise of Nations and that's about it for PC really, it's all Xbox for me now.

Again thanks for the info! Too bad about not being able to utilize a multi core processor! Imagine the possibilities! :)

Don't take anything I say seriously, EVER!

Alright, I downloaded it and finished a campaign in the inner rim. It's not perfect, but 1.2 is a vast improvement over 1.1. It's like a completely different game in many respects. Space battles are much better with the improved maps, land makes sense now, the lag is barely noticeable on GFFA and completely nonexistent on IR, and the AI actually plays the game. I am truly amazed at the mod, and the sheer skill and dedication necessary to achieve so much. To the PR team, thank you.

Don't worry about it not being perfect - we're still making changes :wink_new:.

Config.meg. You'll have to extract it.

What program is used to extract it?

Could you please write specs of your PC to make some insights for me what computer should I buy for the mod ?

Looking at Gamefront.com I feel that mod is rather popular now ;)

Hello there,

I just wanted to chime and say this is the more immersive Mod I've played for Empire at War in a long time. This, and the old Steiner mods are really incredible. I hope to see continued updates to this. It's wonderful!

Just curious but why didn't you give Palpatine the Eclipse as his upgradeable flagship? I'm not 100% but I thought that the Eclipse was his flagship, not the Sovereign.

If I recall correctly, the problem is that there is no proper model for the Eclipse (not rigged, not enough bones ..) . Plus, I couldn't even begin to guess the time it would take to build the model from scratch... :whathuh:

If it's hard then it's worth doing.

And of course, once its model is built you have to code all the hardpoints. Over 1,000 weapon placements is a hell of a lot of typing in Notepad++.

PR fully intends to give Palpatine the Eclipse, assuming a suitable model can be obtained.

Is there currently such a model in existence?

If it's hard then it's worth doing.

Not that we know of. Not one that stands up to our standards anyway.
