I also posted this in my Minecraft division, but you guys might appreciate this more than I. So hundreds, if not thousands of people formed a Minecraft community to built a HHHHHUUUUUUUU.... big place. It's big. They're trying to make it to the exact scale of Middle Earth. They said it would take... erm... I believe 12 hours to walk the entire server so far. But these videos are made by the hilarious Jesse Cox while being escorted by obviously life-rendered nerds, so it got comedy and all.

Part 1

Uber-nerd goes on like no one's business telling everything he possibly can about everything he knows about Middle Earth, but these builds are pretty elaborate for their first 6 months. You get to see the Shire, Bree, Weathertop, Rivendale and... Moria. If you watch anything in this video, watch Moria. It's... big. My jaw itches since it hit my desk so hard.

Part 2

Jesse Cox returns to Middle Earth a few months later and things get real. You see more of the Shire done, Anor, another massive place, Fornost, another massive place and finally Mirkwood. They got a lot done in the past year, apparently.

You guys may not play Minecraft, but this thing can't be passed up. If you're a fan of the lore, you may be interested in joining these guys and checking it out. I don't care for servers or nutn', but even I want to get apart of this a bit. It's quite awesome. It is.

Currently I am making Minas Ithil using Minecraft, but the Minecraft Servers don't work where I am. Pity, I love building places. I would so love to join!

Here is a new adventure map they are making. They have already released one adventure map: The Fall of Gondolin.

Expect that to be a couple of years. ;p

At least you can wait for the epic adventure maps.

Minecraft was technically complete on 1.2.5 release, they added a few things but now minecraft is just small fixes, patches and improvements
It's done, just being improved gradually by demand

To join up, one must answer 3 basic questions

What are the three requirements for commoner?

What does a Oathbreaker have to do to regain their rank?

How did the fellowship get into Moria?

Knowing how to get into Moria is important! ;p

The other questions are just to do with running the place. "Oathbreaker" is a rank given to you when you break the rules.
