Squads+Sergeants

Scouts (Runner Squad - the term “scout” has a special, holy meaning to 40k humanity, having connotations of aspiring Space Marines)
Notes: Especially young/youthful and eager guttural Kanak feral world accent. Their model should be the same as the Warriors, but maybe sized just a tiny bit smaller/shorter to show their relative youth, and have a mix of only bare heads and topknots, if possible they should have little grass bundles on their ankles like Zulu warriors in ceremonial garb. They have smaller squad size than Warriors, but can later take just as many heavy weapons as the bigger squad and move a little faster. Suggest Defensive Ability: “War Chant,” which is the same one described below for the Warrior
Unit_Complete1: RUnners take meat and skulls for Terra

Kanak Warriors (Axemen Squad)
Notes: Guttural feral world accent, like a caveman. Model is a tattooed and painted Kanak warrior, with a mixture of bald heads, topknots, and Ogyrn skull helmet/masks. They have various shaped hand axes in one hand and las pistol in the other. Suggest Defensive Ability: “War Chant ”, where they stand in place doing pre-battle barbarian chants while they raise their axes like in the Chaos Space Marines capture animination or beating their chests, a small smoky flare is lit in the middle of them, which represent the activated stimms they are inhaling. The longer they chant, the more buffs they get... though the buffs are temporary. If they have a Medicine Man or Sky Speaker attached, the Medicine Man or Sky Speaker shakes like a CSM heretic doing a building ritual. The way I imagine this working is for each second they chant, they get a separate global buff that lasts for X seconds, so the longer they chant, the more buffs they have but at a certain point you can’t buff any more because your first buff has worn off. At later tiers, they can upgrade with Flamer or Double Axe (loses las pistol)]
Unit_Complete1: First kill is always sweetest
Unit_Complete2: Kanaks are war makers [pronounced "kah-naks"]

Stone Thrower Squad
Notes: Sounds the same as a Kanak warrior, without the axe or pistol. Model is a small squad of Kanak warriors, with baskets on their backs, and who only throw frag grenades to attack. Same animation as a tac marine throwing a grenade, Tactically, acts like short range mini artillery, with similar range as the Steel Legion Lieutenant-Colonel hand throwing his melta grenade. They should be shielded from both ranged and melee attacks with other squads to survive. At later tiers, a couple of squad members can be upgraded with sniper-like Hunting Rifle (kroot rifle without the spikes) or Krak Grenades (only good at attacking vehicles and buildings. Basically, they are tribesmen who used to fighting by throwing rocks, but have now been armed with grenades. Suggest defensive ability: “Take Cover” (squad temporarily stops attacking, becomes unable to move, ducks down as if in cover, and take much reduced ranged damage and morale damage)
Unit_Complete1: Death follows when rock from fire mountain fall from sky
Unit_Complete2: Thunder rocks can kill many, injure more

Wild Man Squad - Beast Master (Wild Man)
Notes: Sounds like a regular Kanak Warrior, with some random growls/snorts/animal sounds in the background. Beast Master remains the squad’s voice so long as he is alive, even after reinforcing with different beasts. His model should look like a Warrior, wearing a bulky fur on his shoulders like the Vanilla DoW Chaos Lord, without war paint, holding a bulky club welded in both hands and maybe with some animal paraphernalia bits tacked on like a teeth or claws necklace. Each member of the squad becomes individually more powerful, the bigger the squad gets, so you want a big pack of beasts rather than just a few IE each additional beast buffs the whole squad. Also, individual beasts do more damage when they have very low health. Heavy Infantry. Slighter wider sight range, does more morale damage than Warriors or Scouts. Hardcapped, but available in T2. Suggest Defensive Ability: “Feeding” (Can consume gibs like Kroot, but to recover health and morale, not buff stats)

Wild Man Squad - Lava Wyrm -- SoundFX used
Notes: A segmented alien snake that looks similar to the tail of the Tyranid mod Trygon with Kroot quills on it, which slithers like a snake and thrashes with its body spikes around to attack. has streaks of war paint on it

Wild Man Squad - Salamander -- SoundFX used
Notes: Sounds like an alligator or crocodile. Model is scaly, big enough for a Kanak warrior to ride, maybe something kitbashed from Kroot units and Squiggoth. The Salamanders Chapter have a Salamander head as their symbol. The lizard on the cover of Promethean Sun seems like a pretty good representation of a salamander. Similar stats to the Kanak Salamander rough rider. Has streaks of warpaint on it.

Wild Man Squad - Furlok -- SoundFX used
Notes: Not sure what a Furlok is exactly. Suggest asking the Space Wolves mod guys for maybe an earlier version of the Fenrisian wolf, recoloring it in tiger orange and black. Rename “Sabre Wolf”

Salamander Riders (Clan Rider Squad)
Notes: Kanak warrior accented voices, with their salamander mounts growling in the background. Model is a giant carnivorous lizard salamander that attacks with its jaws and front paws. A Kanak warriors welding duel laspistols sits on its back. Like SoB Seraphim, they don’t lose accuracy with their las pistols when movings, so they are good at chasing enemy ranged squads. Fast, heavy infantry, but don’t have the numbers to do as well as other Kanak melee infantry in a sustained fight
Unit_Complete1: There are no old or weak among Kanak riders
Unit_Complete2: Kanaks can ride from skyrise to skyfall [pronounced "kah-naks"]
Unit_Complete3: The mounts are fierce and hungry today!
Unit_Complete4: Haha, Kanak mounts *eat* horse meat (emphasis on “eat”)

Feral Ogryns (Feral Ogryn Squad)
Notes: Sounds like the IG ogryn, maybe even a little more growly. I assume these are the Feral Ogryns duel welding clubs and big SM combat knives, like the Ogryn Auxilia from Krourk. They attack more slowly than Warriors and Scouts, but they have a lot of health. Suggest passive ability “Trample” (Ogryns charge around exactly like Grey Knights’ Furious Charge, but at normal waddling movement speed, doing little damage but knocking down enemies infantry).

Tribal Guard (Tribal Guard Squad)
Notes: Have the guttural, caveman Karnak accent but speak a little more clearly than the warrior, at times trying too hard to use High Gothic words that they have hard time pronouncing. They should look like Kanak warriors but with a lasgun that they use in the same manner as the IG Guardsmen. They might wear more randomized bits and pieces of flak armor and maybe be more heavily ornamented than regular warriors. They are tribal nobles and other high ranking tribesmen who have had the most exposure to Imperial culture and regimental drill, thanks in no small part to the tireless efforts of the Commissar attached to the regiment. Tactically, they’re somewhere between IG Guardsmen and Kasrkin, but slightly better at melee. So they fire faster than guardsmen but not as fast as with hellguns. Can be equipped with Hellgun (rapid fire) or Hotshot Lasgun (slow singleshot anti heavy infantry lasguns, which look like lasguns with a thicker barrel part). Softcapped 3

Commanders

War Chief Command Squad - War Chief (War Chief)
Notes: Sounds like you might expect a caveman chief to sound, mature, authoritative. The command squad voice should always be the War Chief, Battle Standard, or the Commissar, whichever one was last reinforced and still living. War chief model should look kinda like Kanak Warrior, with a weathered leather color version of the fancy cape and shoulder pauldrons that the fully decked out Dark Crusade campaign Lukas Alexander had. He should also be wearing a human skull on his head with a topknot sticking out the top. He is armed with an elongated lasgun with an axe blade on the barrel, that he can weld either as a rifle or as a big melee axe/bayonet. He provides big buffs to the squad he’s attached to. He is by far the single most powerful Kanak commander.

Death3: *cough* Take me to Medicine Men!
Death4: *strong tough cough* Get skulls ... send my spirit to Terra!

War Chief Command Squad - Battle Standard (War Totem)
Notes: Sounds like a primitive holy man, very strong Kanak accent. His lines in Karnak Low Gothic are spoken quickly and decisively. The command squad voice should always be the War Chief, Battle Standard, or the Commissar, whichever one was last reinforced and still living. His model is a Medicine Man, but with different colored bodypaint, wearing an oval bone-colored facemask that covers his face and upper chest. The mask has 3 small horizontal notches, two for eyes and one representing a mouth. Instead of a staff, he is holding a Y shaped wooden stick with a rag hanging on it, the battle standard. Surrounding squads gets a morale boost and takes much reduced damage from enemy abilities. Required to train Medicine Man, Sky Speaker, Shaman. Hardcap 1. Suggest ability: “Rally” (same as the commissar’s Execute ability, but does not kill a unit in the squad)
Unit_Complete1: In spirit land, there are many unknowns
Unit_Complete2: I will carry tribes’ good luck

War Chief Command Squad – Colonel Commissioner (Imperial Commissar)
Note: Sounds like the IG commissar. The command squad voice should always be the War Chief, Battle Standard, or the Commissar, whichever one was last reinforced and still living. A living Commissar is required to train Tribal Guard, Magma Guard, War Party, Banewolf, and Magma Cannon. Shaman
Notes: Sounds like a slightly more guttural version of the IG psyker, but equally agonized and tormented. Model should be a IG psyker whose robe is rough burlap textured, maybe brown, his staff is wooden with a randomized top that is either a big smooth wooden ball or jagged chunk of normal rock, but crackling and arcing with energy. He should be wearing an ork head from the ID Deathwatch Veteran around his neck, hanging on his chest. He should be wearing a long horse skull on his head in the place of the psychic hood, like that on top of the Ork Looted Leman Russ with horns removed. With upgraded, he becomes armed with a Spirit Sword, which is like an Aztec sword formed with a wooden club and embedded black obsidian shards embedded to work as blades that works like a power weapon. Grants little or no buffs to attached squad. Suggest offensive ability: Stone Feet (enemy infantry in targeted area become immobile. A patch of ground takes on the grey texture of stone) Suggest offensive ability: “Meteor Fist” (anti-vehicle ability, where he basically throws a fireball that works like a krak grenade). Suggest defensive ability: “Psychic Ash” (spreads smoke in an area around him, reducing ranged damage to friendly and enemy units alike).

Medicine Man
Notes: Bit crazy sounding, frazzled from too many stimms, with kanak feral world/cavemen accent. Model is a Kanak Warrior holding a crude wooden medicine staff/stick with a metal/stone weight (making a crude mace) in both hands and is wearing lots of white body paint. Improves morale, melee damage, and movement speed. Only slightly improves health. Suggest passive ability: Medicine Ritual (makes Warriors and Scouts’ War Chant abilities slightly more effective IE activates automatically when War Chant ability is being used).

Sky Speaker
Notes: Sounds like a mix of IG priest and voodoo witch doctor with the Kanak accent. His model is an IG priest, with a Kanak axe and a wooden aquila shaped voodoo facemask thing. Maybe some yellow/red/black colored body paint on his priest robes. Uses the same animations as the SoB missionary. Improves morale and makes the squad members much harder to knock down. Suggest offensive ability: Fanaticism (like the IG Priest ability, temporarily grants immunity to damage and morale damage. Grants better buffs than Medicine Man, but temporarily rather than passively all the time)

Vehicles

War Party
Notes: Foreground sound of Kanak warriors cheering enthusiastically and working themselves up, various background sounds of an unhealthy coughing chimera engine, sometimes revving up, sometimes just chugging along. Model is a broken down looking chimera without a working main gun. a squad of Kanaks cling to the top, firing lasguns, maybe with or without a few pieces of corrugated metal shielding them. It transports, provides a morale boost aura around it, moves a tiny bit slower than IG chimera, and becomes immobile when it reaches a certain low health point. What might be really cool is if you have weapons hardpoints over its hull which by default have nothing on them, but when you “upgrade” it, a Kanak warrior pops up by teleport – so say it starts with two warriors, but you can reinforce up to six or seven.

Ogryn Cannon
Notes: Feral ogryn voices, like the IG Ogryns. Model should be kind of a really beat up basilisk, with a sawed-off short gun barrel, directly in back of the gun is an autoloader like a bigger version of the middle section of the IG Heavy Weapons team autogun. a feral ogryn wearing a bone head helmet working as the loader who puts shells into the top of the autoloader device using same animation of the IG Heavy Weapons team loader. there is no spotter. Since the basilisk doesn’t have a working engine, it has two harnessed feral ogryn pulling from the front and three pushing from the back. two Feral Ogryn with ripper guns stand on top in front of the blast barrier. Tactically, like slower moving, short range, rapid fire Basilisk, with a secondary ranged attack as the two mounted Feral Ogryns fire their Ripper guns. Suggest defensive ability: Abandon Gun (destroys the Ogryn Cannon and simultaneously spawns a squad of Feral Ogryn at its location. No teleportation flash, they are just there. The player must have enough pop cap available)

Magma Cannon (Magma Thrower)
Notes: Anti-vehicle cannon? Model is the opened topped mortar from His Righteous Mod, but I’m guessing with same magma cannon that Doomhammers have. The vehicle body has random war paint streaks on it. It works as a not so accurate area of effect anti-vehicle, anti-building weapon with decent anti-infantry on the rare occasion when they can hit them
Unit_Complete1: Skymen show warriors how use fire cannon

Bane Wolf
Notes: Sounds a more youthful version of the Commissar distorted by vehicle static, as the banewolf is manned by Cadet-Commissars. It looks like the chemical version hellhound from DoW II, because the Imperium doesn't care that much if these feral worlders all eventually get poisoned and don't have long lifespans. The banewolf should be coloured primarily in Commissariat black and dark red flashes, with teamcolourable markings, like diamonds/triangles/stripes. Has shorter range than hellhound. Its attack does more damage than hellhound, but slowly from poison, does more damage to light vehicles, and also slows down enemies a tiny bit. Either softcapped or hardcapped. It will poison both friendly and enemy infantry that it hits, who continue to take damage for a long time from poison. Suggest offensive ability: “Vent Tanks” (large area around the Banewolf becomes instantly poisoned with green smoke for a long while, Bane Wolf looses a little bit of health and cannot attack at all afterwards)]

Warbeast
Notes: Sound of boastful guttural barbarian Kanak warrior voice with appropriate background sounds of the warbeast mount bellowing in the background. Some big deathworld beast (ideally like Fantasy Lizardman Stegadon, maybe made from a Squiggoth and Kroot parts) with a Kanak heavy weapons team deployed on its broad back, default heavy bolters, upgradable to lascannon or autocannon. Occupies a tactical role more like a tank than krootox. It has lots of hitpoints, but not a very strong melee damage ... so it can either be used like a tank or to tie up ranged squads in melee

Xenosaur
Notes: xenosaur roar is something between the Tau Gnarloc and the T-rex from Jurassic Park. A faster (skinnier?) Greater Gnarloc with spines only in a line down its back. A Kanak warrior rides on its neck, firing a lasgun.
Unit_Complete1: *long and triumphant xenosaur roar*

Buildings

All the buildings are the same as the vanilla IG ones, except the T3 building. The buildings should look pretty decrepit (especially the Mechanized Command) with random streaks of warpaint on them and maybe additional decorations. Decorations could be shapeless wooden or stone Norse idols in the shape of a warrior or long face or animal or skulls hung in clumps of two or three. The skulls should look a little yellowish since they are pickled in a waxy resin like ancient Germans would do.

Trains: War Chief Command Squad

Note: Sound is... a deep horn begins to sound and immediately you hear a thump by the Xenosaur ramming the side of its holding cell while letting out a relatively soft growl/roar. When the thumps happens, there is simultaneously the roar of many Kanak warriors cheering loudly, so it becomes a cacophony of horn sound, Xenosaur growl, and cheering Karneks.
Note: instead of a Mars Pattern Command, they have a big IG orbital drop cage with some random streaks of paint on it. Their T3 superunit, the Xenosaur, gets released from it. The cage model should be modified from the drop crates in IG build animations

Introductory Notes and Gameplay for the Kanak Skull Takers

The Kanaks’ High Gothic is a guttural feral world accent, like that of a caveman. When they roar in warcries, it is a lot like the Barbarian from Diablo II. They are not very wordy. Many of their lines are in their native feral world Low Gothic, which is quite guttural.
