Hi. I only played one round as ge on inner rim, but that round i only got notifications for incomming fleets each 5th time or so, the other times theres neither a sound played nor are they listed in the "message log".
Took a peek in the manual but couldnt find a game mechanic that could cause this.
Oh and the skipreys are still to overpowered in my opinion, the "J" upgrade is enough for a pack of about 20 or 25 of them to wreak havoc no matter how big the fighter screen or the target itself is.

I think it only happens if you have a hero in space.

Skiprays are powerful, yeah. The best response is the DP20 or heavy combat transports.

Dont know if it has changed but I remember in 1.1 building quite a few recusants to combat those skiprays as they seemed to be one of the few bigger ships that actually could damage them, while at the same time having enough hull to survive for a bit although I suspect a pack of 20 or 25 would still eat em pretty fast.

I remember the original expansion had something similar with its fighters, in small numbers they did nothing. In medium numbers they could start to hurt, but in large numbers it was like horde of locusts devouring everything as they simply do so much damage so fast you dont get to thin out the numbers. Especially with the way the game seems to randomly pick which ones to shoot at.

Ah yes, the Recusant or higher level Dreadnaughts with power-to-weapons activated are pretty good. The Recusant has the added bonus of point defence for extra protection from warheads.

It's not the Skiprays specifically, but a number of big-picture factors. More later.
