Welcome to V1.2

In order for us to find and resolve bugs and issues as quickly as possible, we would prefer if you could include the following information with your post as this will help find the problem.

System Details: Operating System, CPU & Ram

Type Of Installation: Original Boxed EaW/FoC, Boxed EaW Gold, Steam etc

Updates: We recommend the following updates are installed. Does not apply to Gold and Steam, as those are fully patched.
Star Wars Empires at War: EAWUpdate1_5
Forces of Corruption: focupdate1_1

Mods: Please indicate if any other mods are installed.

Known Installation issues:

Perception parsing crash on launch:
delete or rename XML and Scripts folders from FoC\Data and EaW\GameData\Data directories. Uninstall RaW mod if still experiencing the issue.

Crash during blue "loading..." text:

delete or rename XML folders from FoC\Data and EaW\GameData\Data. Reinstall FoC if crash persists.

Crash during main loading screen, not perception related:

make sure the Target and Start in fields of the shortcut point towards swfoc.exe

eg Windows XP users
Target: "C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption\swfoc.exe" MODPATH=Mods\Phoenix_Rising_v1.2
Start in: "C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption"

eg Windows 7 users
Target: "C:\Program Files(x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption\swfoc.exe" MODPATH=Mods\Phoenix_Rising_v1.2
Start in: "C:\Program Files(x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption"

Happy Gaming

Okay, I've been having the oft-reported crash on startup bug. I'm running Windows 7, standard disc-installed FoC. I have reinstalled and repatched FoC, and I went to delete or rename the XML folder, but it wasn't there, so I just moved on. Game still crashes, and just as a test, I tried vanilla as well, which also gave the same crash/error. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

3 gb-2.75 gb usable
boxed EAW/FOC gold pack-fully updated from lucas arts-used the update that u guys posted for 2+gb users-didnt help or i installed it into the wrong place?
no other mods
Game is Crashing in galaxy far, far away campaign-saving isnt an issue as long as i just close the program when it crashes-no XML files seen-random crashing-no "same events" taking place seems to be completly random
i did this on this post because i wanted to re-verify what was happening-should have named the saving issue post diffrent since it wasnt happening when saving-
when the mod crashes it still auto-deletes the auto saves-but the other save files are being left alone now-usually because i am immedialty closing the program when it crashes-i guees
plz help and thank you an advance-me and stormhawk seem to have the same problems

Doesn't sound like it, actually. I never actually get to the main menu, and it sounds like you're getting into a GFFA campaign. Seem to be two different issues.

Stormhawk, make sure nothing is in EaW\GameData\Data\XML either.

For some reason, neither
C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption\Data\XML nor
C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Empire at War\GameData\Data\XML
exist, even right after a fresh install. Are the XML folders placed by other mods?

I cannot get vanilla FoC to run, interestingly, even on a fresh install of both FoC and EaW. However, EaW runs fine... I am quite confused.

They can be placed by other mods, yes.

If it's a problem with the game outside of modding, then I'd suggest contacting LucasArts for support.

LucasArts is being unhelpful because I'm running Windows 7, which is technically unsupported. Forces of Corruption and PR 1.1 was running fine on my computer not a month ago, though, and the only thing I've done in the meantime is attempt the PR1.2 install. It's very weird, I have no idea how the FoC installation was at all affected by me messing around with things like the Data/XML folder. It seems like a fresh install should have undone whatever changes I made.

If you have a fresh install of the game, you may wish to try installing the 64 bit patch and then our compatibility fix for said patch.

Thanks! Forgot about that patch. FoC works fine now, but PR 1.2 unfortunately does not, even after I installed the PR compatibility patch. That goes in Mods/PR1.2/Data, right?

I renamed XML in the FoC data file as well.

On a random but interesting note, if I alt-tab out of FoC, the tab at the bottom of the screen shows the PR icon instead of the FoC icon. Weird.

Yeah as long as you extract the compatibility patch files into the PR Data directory it should work. There should be an XML folder in your PR v1.2 data directory and in there should be two XML files, GraphicDetails and GameConstants. If it's not working, I don't know what I can do. I've tested it myself on a Windows 7 retail FoC installation...

Thanks for all your help evilbob. I'll keep trying stuff I suppose. I'll get it eventually.

Edit: An interesting result I've found. Vanilla FoC runs fine with the FoC/Data/XML file correctly named, but when I rename it to LMX, even Vanilla FoC won't work. Doesn't that mean PR should fail automatically as well?

Some people may not be aware of this but there are 2 64 bit patches for FOC. The unofficial one can be found here. I use this one because I find that the official one does not work with some mods. It also includes the no cd

Use one or the other, using both might make FOC unstable. I am not responsible for any problems you may have as a result of installing this. works with windows 7.

Did you have to use this unofficial patch on your Windows 7 machine?

If so, what's the installation procedure? If I already used the official patch, should I uninstall and reinstall before using this one? And I assume this unofficial patch still needs the PR team's compatability download for the 64 bit patch?

That's the one v1.2 implements, predator. To be clear, no patching is necessary for PR v1.2 (vanilla, yes; other mods, inconclusive).

I downloaded the patch, and it's a .rar file. I'm not sure what exactly this filetype is. How do I install it?

7-Zip is what I recommend, it will deal with just about any compressed file type too.

Ah, finally, there is the problem. I was using the wrong 64 bit patch. 1.2, I'm very happy to say, is working flawlessly. Greatest thanks to evilbob, PR, Zeta, predator, and anyone else I'm forgetting for bearing with my endless questions. I'm very much looking forward to playing this.
