System Details: Windows 7, Intel Core i7 (M620 @ 2.67 Ghz) dual core, 4 GB's of RAM

Type Of Installation: Steam

Mods: PR 1.1 and this one. that's it

right so I'm not really sure if its a bug in the game, but ive had some moments where i've been playing the mod for about 5 or 6 hours, and then it freezes. usually when i'm in the middle of a high intensity space battle where the empire has been using mainly Venators. i think it might just be that the empire likes its venators and usually sends anywhere between 1 and 6 of them after me, in addition to a bunch of carracks and dreadnoughts. thoughts?

It's always in tactical space?

Maybe your system specs can't handle that many units or something. It could be your computer maybe.

often times, it is in tactical space combat.
i think its the number and variation of units also.
when it happens, its when i have one of my "expansionary" fleets.
when i upgrade my ships to their max level, i will build an equivalent number of newer ships, ex. i start out with 4 Dreadnought mk. 1's at chandrilla, and then i build 4 maxed out Dreadnoughts as replacements.
i put the older ships into a different, expendable fleet, which i use to attack nearby enemy-held worlds, as if i lose them, im not losing any defensive capability at the planets i hold.
problem is that sometimes, when i get the enemy fleet approaching warning, ill halt development and build some ships to augment my defenses.
if i get any ships built, and if they survive the battle, i group those in the expansionary fleet as well.
as you might imagine, my expansionary fleets can have ships of the same class, but at different upgrade levels, which gets compounded when the ships have different compliments.
ive had fleets which have had 3 major classes of ships, but each class has 2 or 3 sub-types, each sub-type with their own fighter compliments.
im not going to get rid of the ships, as they are still spaceworthy and can still take down a sizable force with little difficulty

If it truly is ship variantation, the problem would've had to have been present in v1.1. No new buildable ships or variants were added in v1.2. It might be complement... I'll keep a look out.

found the problem. my laptop generates a LOT of heat, and the way my desk in my dorm room is set up, wasn't enough room for the heat to escape

Oh, wow. That's very interesting, thanks. Regardless, there's some optimization I can do yet for space.
