Been doing some ground combats in my new medium rebel game on core worlds. Been using the Freerunner at mark 3 and 4 along with some rangers. On at least 2 occasions I have won a ground battle using these with no losses to the freerunners but having the infantry die.

The game doesnt seem to think my freerunners survived and so just left the planet in enemy hands until I moved another unit over to take it, and my freerunners just vanish.

Same happened even when I had a Jedi hero along as well except it also destroyed the jedi as well who was unharmed before the end of the battle.

Given the cost and time it takes to build a freerunner this is really annoying. Shame as otherwise they are really nice units especially the 4 with its shield.

Could you be more specific? Which planet and who was defending, etc.

Sorry about that. The planets were Giju vs the natives and Carida vs the empire. Think both had basically the starting units for core worlds. In both cases all infantry died an only the freerunners were left.

Dont know if its related but just did a battle on duro with a couple units of freerunner iv and 1 ranger and garm bel iblis. My freerunners got murdered by the armored freerunners and flying units and at-ap units. (Armored freerunners are evil, twin light turbo lasers and ion cannons :-( ).
After retreating the game said on losses screen that neither of us had lost units although my freerunners had got slaughtered and were down to 2 in the circle during retreat so I would expect it to class them as lost.

They did not show on the losses screen but were not above the planet after the loss. Its almost like the game thought they were summoned units.

The losses screen is a bit odd like that sometimes. It's a bug that has been in since vanilla, I think. It was just less obvious because unit groups were much smaller.

As to the issue of planets not transitioning after a successful victory, that usually happens when a good platoon contains bad units, for one reason or another, but it also might be a bad structure. I don't think it'd be a misplaced factional map item, because those objects should not go back to strategic (they're not coded to exist in that context). Here's CW Giju and Carida:

<Starting_Forces> Pirates, Giju, P_Ground_Command_Center_Civilian_Trade </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Pirates, Giju, P_Ground_Elite_Barracks_Mercenary </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Pirates, Giju, P_Civilian_Trandoshan_Platoon </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Pirates, Giju, P_Civilian_Trandoshan_Platoon </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Pirates, Giju, P_Civilian_Trandoshan_Platoon </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Pirates, Giju, P_Civilian_Trandoshan_Platoon </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Pirates, Giju, P_Civilian_Trandoshan_Platoon </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Pirates, Giju, P_A5_Juggernaut_Heavy_Assault_Vehicle_Platoon </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Pirates, Giju, P_A5_Juggernaut_Heavy_Assault_Vehicle_Platoon </Starting_Forces>

<Starting_Forces> Empire, Carida, E_Navy_Pilot_Officer_Team </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Empire, Carida, E_Ground_Elite_Barracks </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Empire, Carida, E_Ground_Elite_Barracks </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Empire, Carida, E_Ground_Speeder_Factory </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Empire, Carida, E_Scout_Trooper_Platoon </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Empire, Carida, E_Stormtrooper_Platoon </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Empire, Carida, E_Stormtrooper_Platoon </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Empire, Carida, E_Low_Altitude_Assault_Transport_Platoon </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Empire, Carida, E_QH_7_Chariot_Light_Assault_Vehicle_Platoon </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Empire, Carida, E_All_Terrain_Scout_Transport_Platoon </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Empire, Carida, E_All_Terrain_Scout_Transport_Platoon </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Empire, Carida, E_A5_Juggernaut_Heavy_Assault_Vehicle_Platoon </Starting_Forces>
        <Starting_Forces> Empire, Carida, Cassio_Tagge_Team </Starting_Forces>

We need to verify that these are the units that actually showed up in-battle. If one was missing but present in galactic, it's most likely the cause.

I had a similar experience on Chandrila. I was just starting a Core Worlds game on medium as the Empire, took Ghost's tip (thanks BTW) :good:, I won the fight but the same problem happened. So I transferred a Navy Trooper unit from Corulag to the ground slot at Chandrila. But that's where the similarities end, My troops were there (must admit I was pretty relieved to see Vader still alive and well). But all my built-upon built pads were gone :sad2: , good thing they're cheap!

There is something else that might be important to know, when I won the battle for Chandrila; one of my build pads was burning and I didn't know if it would or wouldn't stay damaged after I went back to Galactic, so I paused the game while the Imperial March played and the "WE ARE VICTORIOUS" was showing and sold then started to build something else. When the post battle summary appeared, the pad hadn't finished building.

If it's hard then it's worth doing.

Build pad items should not stay damaged after a battle. I'm not sure what happens to those under construction at the end of a battle though.

Maybe the engine just had a small hiccup.

Yeah, if the planet didn't transfer at the end of the battle for whatever reason, all your pads would be wiped out.

Playing as Empire I invaded Ord Pardron with some AT-ATs, AT-STs, and stormtroopers, and I won the battle (with a rebellion retreat) but when it switched back to galactic the planet was still controlled by rebels. When I sent another ground force to capture it, a battle started and my troops, which were invisible on galactic, were placed around the map, as well as the rebellion troops that had survived the retreat, and a heavy vehicle factory. It was an easy win but it resembled the topic so i thought it might help...

Okay. How many buildings did the Rebels have and were there any enemy heroes present?

Two buildings, a heavy vehicle factory and I think one of the rebel infantry academies (I haven't played as rebels). No enemy heroes.

I ran across the exact same problem as last time on Chandrila. The only difference was that I wasn't actively building pads but I had the build menu open on one of them when I went to the battle summary.

Regarding my last report on this bug, I must amend it. I actually had to fight a battle to "reconquer" the planet. I had to destroy the standard barracks to finally take possession of the planet. The exact same thing also happened this time around, same problem, same structure that "re-spawned", and, of course, all my pads had to be rebuild! :umad:

If it's hard then it's worth doing.

I've noticed that structures are not showing up in the battle debrief screen sometimes. Could be tied to that.

Yeah the game scoring system seems to be slightly broken. I've played many battles where losses haven't shown up correctly. Seems to happen exclusively on land battles too.
