keeping with my other thread, this will be a list of the ships that could be cool.
as i mentioned in the other thread, the list of Imperial craft will likely be smaller, as the fleet wasnt ragtag

tech level 0
nothing here. the Navy is pretty well set up at this point in time compared to its competitors.

tech level 1
nothing here either. the Navy is still strong compared to the Rebels at this point. if anything, maybe making the Guardian class buildable, to combat the rise in smuggling and piracy

tech level 2
no fighters or bombers. the experimental series of TIE's arent worth it
freighters and transports
the Star Galleon. the super-freighter would be worth it i think
the Gamma-class Assault SHUTTLE. a nice compliment to the ATR and the DX-9.
not a whole lot else i would add.
Destroyers and Capitals
possibly the Allegiance class Heavy-Star Destroyer. not sure if it would be better as a tech level 2 or 3 capital ship. yeah it was first seen in Dark Empire, but it seems like it may have been used earlier.
i think thats it

tech level 3
Fighters and Bombers
either the TIE-Droid or the Shadow Droid. i would think the TIE Droid would be easier to add, as modifying a standard TIE fighter is easier than creating a new craft altogether
the I-7 Howlrunner. as it was used by the Dark Side Adepts, id say its worth a look-see. the model looks pretty simple too
freighters and transports
not sure where to go with this one.
corvettes and frigates
i think were good here
Cruisers
the Vindicator class Heavy Cruiser. while the design is a bit older, due to it being used as the frame for the Interdictor Cruiser, its smaller hull form, coupled with the advances in weapons technology would likely make it more formidable
Destroyers and up
aside from the Dark Empire ships, which im trying to avoid, not a whole lot added at this point

tech level 4
nothing is coming to mind here.

The Gamma-class assault shuttle would be great, especially if the Zero-G assault stormtrooper, a.k.a. spacetrooper, was also added.

Its technically the Allegiance-class Star Battlecruiser, until I receive evidence to the contrary.

The Vindicator-class heavy cruiser and the Immobilizer 418 cruiser derivative, the Enforcer-class picket cruiser, are great ideas.

The TIE Droid and Shadow Droid are good ideas in theory.

The TIE Sentinel (what people had the brilliant idea to call the V38 assault fighter) and its cloaking derivative, the TIE Phantom, are probably the best idea I can think of. I even came up with a unique way to make the TIE Phantom work by destroying Aeten II with the Death Star or an equivalent superweapon if others are added, to spawn the Terror. The Terror, an Executor-class Star Dreadnought equipped with a stygium cloaking device, would then allow for the production of the TIE Phantom, in a similar manner to the Arc Hammer and the Dark Trooper Project in FoC. I explained this idea in an old thread on these forums awhile back, but I thought I would put a newer thread for those who didn't see it last time.

im hesitant about the Space-troopers. seems to me that they wouldnt work that well
yeah i dont remember why i called it the Heavy Star Destroyer. slip of the mind i guess.
if i had to choose between the two, id go with the TIE, as its probably more easily rendered, given the parts commonality with the other TIEs
i completely forgot about the Stealth fighters. although unless a counter could be developed, i would hesitate before adding them, or something that would limit their power, like having a window where for a second before and a second after firing, the ship de-cloaks, or something like that

The cost of the TIE Drone, 165k, would make it prohibitively expensive to build as a regular unit. It just doesn't measure up favorably to the TIE/ln or TIE/in and we don't charge for living pilots.

I can't justify the Shadow Droid as a mass-produced unit. Dead TIE aces just don't seem like a readily-available commodity.

I'm still calling it a star battlecruiser as well :evilthinkin:. First time I've heard "TIE Sentinel", but I like that too.

It might be possible to jury-rig an ability to fire Space Troopers. Hard to say.

TIE Sentinel is a fanon designation for the V38 assault fighter (like PR's use of TIE Targeter for the TIE/gt starfighter), the base craft that was modified into the TIE Phantom, with V38 assault fighter being an Alliance designation for the craft, in order respect Star Wars: Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire. For a full name, I would call it the TIE/S Sentinel to emulate TIE/D Defender, though I have seen it designated both TIE/st and TIE/sn.

I edited the TIE Sentinel/TIE Phantom section from my previous post to clarify things, and made a few tweaks to the Gamma-class assault shuttle/Spacetrooper and TIE Droid/Shadow Droid comments.

You could use the Buzz Droids ability but make it affect other classes of ships instead of fighters.

If it's hard then it's worth doing.

Sounds like the best course of action to me.

Though I like the looks of the I-7 Howlrunner, I can't really see how it fits in between all the TIEs.

Going by Wookieepedia here, but I don't know about the Enforcer. Sounds interesting, but despite the description, it's listed armament is rather weak. The Vindicator sounds like an awesome short range brawler, though somewhat similar to the Acclamator.

TIE Phantoms could be useful. Could go V38 > TIE Sentinel > TIE Phantom.

Curious: The only place I have ever seen the TIE Sentinel was in Star Wars Warlords, the Homeworld 2 Mod. I can't find any other "source" on it, other than Wookiepedia implying through a redirect that the V38 and the Sentinel are the same ship. In Warlords the Sentinel has a primarily Ion-Cannon based armament, so I presume it's designed to disable enemy craft.

I'm just going on this bit here:

TIE Sentinel is a fanon designation for the V38 assault fighter

I've actually never heard 'TIE Sentinel' before either, but it just seems more Empire-ish than the canon name of V38.

Edit: Wookieepedia is listing the Essential Guide to Warfare as a source on it now, though I don't have that so don't really know what's there.

hey, i know that the models dont have to be THIS detailed, but i found an awesome looking I-7 used in a mod for Freelancer. the mod is called Freeworlds: Tides of War

this mod has other models that are awesome, although some liberties are taken with some of the models
to tell you the truth, i like this E-wing more than i like the one seen in the guides
http://www.moddb.com...-wing2#imagebox
it feels less hastily drawn

They seem to be going for a chunkier, blockier style. It certainly looks like a good mod, in fact I think I've checked it out a few times.

This is the best source I can find for a TIE Sentinel, which is said to be similar to yet different than the V38 assault fighter and the TIE Phantom from Star Wars: Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire. The TIE Sentinel as depict in the TIE Database could be an excellent way to flesh out what Corran Horn called a clutch in I, Jedi. The TIE Database is pretty substantial, that is only page 3 of 3. Narwath makes a lot of mistakes in regards to what's been established as the canon names though.

The Vindicator sounds like an awesome short range brawler, though somewhat similar to the Acclamator.

Yep! It would be a logical successor to the Clone War era ship. I've always thought of the Vindicator as being an Imperial era Dreadnaught but maximized for systems policing duties. The Empire, to avoid sending bigger ships or a squadron of smaller ones, needed a versatile, modifiable cruiser that could deal with anything below the cruiser class. So they turned to one of their best partners, Sienar Fleet Systems; a company known for its expertise in starfighters, transports and almost any kind of vessels pirates, smugglers and insurgents would most likely get their hands on. SFS designed the perfect police ship for the Empire, one that can deal with localized space and/or planetary threats (depending on the configuration).

There is also a case to be maid in favor of phasing out the Acclamators and Dreadnaughts for a New Order design. So, that could be the reason these older ships got pushed out of the "civilized" parts of the galaxy and ended up on remote Rim patrols. In the case of the Acclamator I think the Empire retained a few (Acc.II probably) and transformed the rest in military cargo ships. Eventually KDY scraped them for their components.

If it's hard then it's worth doing.

so now the only question would be "to what extent would the stats on the -418 be modified to go back to the Vindicator.
the firepower mentioned on the Wookie page seems good. might have to remove or redo some of it.
shields and hull strength would probably be a bit higher, as the shields can cover a smaller area, as well as not having to share power with the Gravity Well system
sublight speed, id give it a 20% base boost, as well as to acceleration and maneuverability.
hyperdrive can stay the same. class 2 is pretty much the standard for the Imperial Navy
as for the fighter bays, add a squadron or 2 of fighters, or 1 squad of bombers to supplement the 2 squads in the -418, and that should be fine
i miss anything?

Yes a working model. Granted one could be put together by using the 418 but it still needs to be rigged properly.
