After tdragonblood made some points about galactic zoom and the galactic minimap, I've decided to ask your opinion! We can resize the galactic minimap relatively easily (though it would require some UI redesign) so I want to know if that's what you guys want. Note: this will not resize the tactical minimap.

If any of you have suggestions for how we might organize the user interface around a larger minimap, please give your ideas/sketches/etc in this topic. We can rearrange and resize nearly every button, but we can't add anything major.

I personally wouldn't mind a larger minimap, but I'm not sure those with smaller non-widescreen monitors can get much bigger.
More effective might be for the scale within the minimap to be different for some of the campaigns. I don't really need a tiny little cluster in the center and the rest empty while playing Core Worlds. :crazed:

<DevXen> Today I was at the store and saw a Darth Vader action figure that said "Choking Hazard." It was great.

Unfortunately the UI cannot be adjusted per-campaign. A slightly larger minimap would be beneficial to Core Worlds since it would separate out the planets a little.

Simplest adjustment would be to make the planet blips smaller. I've already halved them once, but I could easily do it again.

Hasn't been a vote on this in a while so unpinning. I plan to make the minimap ~25-50% larger, possibly more, depending on how the UI will cope.

Related note: I suppose there's no way to rescale the campaign menu preview minimaps, is there? Pretty sure it's hardcoded.

Yes, I think that is hardcoded. If it was anywhere, it would be in the GUI resource file.
