Well, in vanilla and in other mods I've played the Stormtroopers unit "changed" its "look" when fighting on Ic-worlds (like Hoth etc.) and was shown in "Snowtroopers" skin (you know, the guys from Blizzard Force in Episode V). Similar thing was with Sand planets (Tatooine etc.), when Stormtropers "turned into" the "Sandtroopers" (with skins like those shown in Episode IV).

However, when I fought on Dolomar (evidently an Ice world, with all covered with snow) the Stormtroopers deployed in they "standard" uniforms - not as Snowtroopers! :flame:
I was rather surprised and I don't know if that was intentional or kinda buggy?

It's currently intentional, because we don't have appropriate infantry models to cover each planet type, we simply cut the variants and reused them for other things (the sandtrooper models are use for the shock trooper).

Phoenix Rising, head of mapping. Thanks to everyone who got us to the position below!

OK, but what about the snowtroopers? Are they used for something else? 'Cause I really liked those Blizzards... :(

Snowtroopers and Sandtroopers are logically different from base Stormtroopers - they're not interchangeable.

Perhaps make them a buildable unit on ice worlds? Give them a nice buff on their intentional terrain and a disadvantage on different terrain. Naturally, they would come from an elite academy.

The thought has occurred to me, but it would require a unique map for every planet.

Oh. Not sure if I follow. doesn't the game already file each map under a certain category.

for instance, you could make it where they would be effective on maps that have snow as a possible weather effect.

Not just Imperial snowtroopers, but Alliance as well.

Anyway, doesn't seem like a high priority issue. If it bothers you a lot, just use vehicles only on snow worlds. Most of the ice planets have very cold climates and large numbers of infantry in such climates just seems illogical. Even properly geared infantry would not have been used extensively in such climates. Just look at the battle of Hoth, the Empire only used infantry for storming the Alliance installations. The Alliance infantry on Hoth was also just for the defense of the shield generator and base itself, not for a prolonged operation.

That said, it would be cool to unload an AT-AT full of snowtroopers :)

Oh, yeah! I completely agree!

BTW: I like the idea with AT-AT company of 2 vehicles and 4-squads in Stormtroopers platoon as well as making the AT-AT similar to Juggernaut - thus I can deploy 2 units = 2 AT-ATs and 4 squads, which gives the same efect as vanilla 2 companies of AT-ATs.. but now the Stormtroopers can be deployed and then load up again into AT-AT to be carried to another place.

Terrain bonuses like that need to be applied from the terrain to the unit. So you have to place a dummy object on each map to indicate what type of bonus is used. I can't guarantee that the terrains would remain consistent for maps used as placeholders, but I suppose we could approximate it closely enough.
