ok, im not trying to make anyone angry, even though i think that might happen with some of the more extreme fans. so as a Disclaimer: i am not trying to inflame, i am only trying to discuss. if you have an issue with the topic i am bringing up, you may send me a private message detailing your concerns.

Hollywood has been on a rampage in the past few years when it comes to adaptations and remakes. while some of these have not been terrible, such as the Ed Norton Hulk (compared to the Eric Bana one.), it begs the following question
What if they Remake Star Wars? not a 3D re-release, not a Special Edition, im talking complete renovation to the entire house. a good example of what i am describing would be the remade Battlestar Galactica, and not Bionic Woman or Knight Rider. would it happen? doubtful, although you never know.

just to go one further, if they did remakes, how would you want to do it? i.e. keep James Earl Jones as the voice of Vader, having Nathan Fillon or Robert Downey Jr. playing Han Solo, having a longer series of films, or even getting rid of the live action, and going the Animation or CGI route (NOT TCW-STYLE!!!!!! an example of the former would be Ghost In The Shell or Black Lagoon, and the latter being Appleseed or Resident Evil Degeneration), or even including the events in the other media that makes up the Star Wars Franchise (after resolving the inconsistencies of course)

well, RELEASE THE HORDES!

Not as long as George Lucas lives... but feel free to speculate.

The original trilogy is already pretty good and doesn't need to be re-made. Well, aside from replacing the Ewoks in RotJ with angry Wookies.

I would like to see the Clone Wars get completely re-done though to make them the galaxy-devastating event hinted at in sources written before the prequels. Having a declining Old Republic needing to muster the soldiers and resources necessary to fight off the Clonemasters and their infinite legions of brutal and ruthless stormtroopers would have been far better than what we got where it seems like most of the galaxy was untouched by the assembly-line soldiers shooting each other in the Mid Rim and Outer Rim. They just don't seem like the sort of event that would make sheltered Alderaan completely avow violence.

if there were ever to be any form of remake, having Joss Whedon as the director wouldnt hurt. look at the job he did with Avengers. as i mentioned up top, having either Robert Downey jr or Nathan Fillon as Han Solo would be awesome. keep some of the original parts of the films, namely having James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader. Samuel L Jackson as Lando Calrissian, complete with a certain line lifted from Snakes on A Plane. oh, KILL JAR-JAR! perhaps the last two can be related. I AM SICK AND TIRED OF THESE ... GUNGANS ON MY ... CITY . lets see. minor redesigns of some of the technology, as we have things that were on the drawing board back in the late 70's i.e. heads up displays if not Helmet-Mounted versions, DNA testing, that sort of thing, Using the Iron Sights/Scopes and not aiming from the hip....

Update the technology. Keep everything else the same to troll everybody.

<DevXen> Today I was at the store and saw a Darth Vader action figure that said "Choking Hazard." It was great.

I'm much more in favor of making the Thrawn Trilogy into a movie series. Although picking an actor for him would be quite the challenge.

Hugo Weaving, Patrick Stewart, or Liam Neison would make good Thrawn's.
Hugo Weaving has the right amount of Malevolence and class, Patrick Stewart has the has the commanding attitude, and Liam Neison has the sort of tough Mentoring ability (killing a severely incompetent crewman, promoting a different one who showed initiative, and his interactions with Pallaeon could be considered to be similar to how a teacher and student interact

The No.1 requirement for any actor to play Thrawn is the ability to effectively portray a Magnificent Bastard. Patrick Stewart is a great choice for a good guy, but unless there's a really old General or Admiral in the New Republic there's no role for him. Liam Neeson has all the emotion of a brick when he acts, so he's out. Hugo Weaving could work since he was a great evil bastard as Agent Smith, but I'm not sure if he can have the charisma necessary to be Thrawn.

in the time between when i posted those guys and now, ive thought of a few more guys.
Gary Oldman, Jason Issacs, Michael Fassbender, Tom Hiddleston.
Gary Oldman was a good bad guy in films like The Fifth Element, Lost In Space, and Air Force One.
Jason Issacs has played a malevolent Military Commander in The Patriot and Universal Soldier, as well as a few others i think
Fassbender has the charisma, and he has pulled off Evil pretty well in the past few years.
Hiddleston: just go and watch Thor or Avengers. thats all i need to say

come to think of it, pretty much all of the main cast members of the Avengers movies (including Thor, Hulk, etc.) would work out.

A lot of those actors you've mentioned are pretty old. Curious when this hypothetical remake would begin filming.

Well, the conversation's sort of drifted to the Thrawn Trilogy.
