I want to know why people like it, and all I'm getting is irrelevant nonsense. I actually have been recording hits for our community topics in the """general discussion""" category and so far they have been decreasing since last week's Monday I'll do anything to make sure these topics get as many hits as immorally possible, even if I have to burn people out in this topic.

Well, thanks for proving my earlier point for me. :-)

Have you considered that the reason nobody's arguing the toss is that there's no point arguing with such an overinflated ego as yours? People don't engage with you because they think you're a colossal dick.

When you refer to yourself in the third-person, act like a complete patronising dickbrain and treat people as though they're four years old (not to mention that you litter every topic on the goddamn forum with your own particular brand of twaddle), you don't win arguments. You just win the "Biggest cunt in the forum" award. No, it doesn't come with a trophy or any sort of commemorative shield. Though I wish it did, so I could knock some sense into you with it.

Do yourself a favour and wind your neck in. Better yet, do it as a favour to me and the rest of the forum, because people are less likely to keep coming if you just keep antagonising folk.

Again, appreciate the comedy gold Ashy, but I'm still trying to have a discussion here.

Takes two to have a discussion and it seems like no one wants to be the other half. Personally I much prefer this layout. It's a lot more condensed, seems simpler and I've had no problems finding what I need to.

Also some nice use of the English language Ash, especially the combining of words like fuckknuckle and dickbrain. Just realised I no longer remember you're old nicks. Comrade Jerkov was one, but there were others back in the glory days of RS. Infact Googling CJ only comes up with you. :p

Meh... pretty much. Go figure, the one conversation I'm 100% right on and no one will listen. This is how people develop stress related allergies, I suspect.

I like the part where he wanted me to commit suicide. Not enough people ask me to do that (anymore).

I never asked you to commit suicide. I just told you to wind your neck in, which doesn't mean anything of the sort.

I assumed that was British for 'Choke yourself'. Meh... I is disappoint.

But I had an idea. It's one way to shut me up about this, and to actually see if this new layout is optimal. My concern is on a PR standpoint... that putting the community topics into a 'general discussion' category would cause them to receive less hits than out on the forum front page. I've been recording the hit numbers since last week's Monday, but the data I have from it isn't enough to really say anything, and that's because I don't have the hit numbers from before the change. One reason why it would have been nice to know about this before we just did it on the spot... but I digress. What I can do from today until next Saturday is record more of these numbers to get a good estimate on their exposure. On next Saturday, we change the layout back to the previous settings and I can take 2 weeks to record those numbers.

I had this problem in mind since we started using this layout, but I wasn't sure if the evidence I would gather for it would really support the issue I had in mind. The way search engines work is that they have feedback bots watching a plethora of sites, including us. I'm sure we've seen the Google Bot in the active user list. That bot actually turns users to this site if they type in key words that best fits what we have, and that happens all the time. I remember when I worked for ModDB, that they had a certain picky design in mind when it came to their forums and their front page. These bots take search words and immediately scan the outlying categories of all the forums they are tracking. Then they scan the next layer of categories, and my concern lies in the 'general discussion' category making our actual community section one layer too deep in our design, and that we will receive less hits due to it. But I dunno if the numbers will change enough to make a difference in my argument... But of they do change in favor of our original layout, then do we really not want to know that? But the consequences are us receiving less people getting Revora on the front page of their searches. But as a positive note, we will get less spam bots in these sections. It's good to get spam bots once in awhile so you know that search engines are actually associating words or phrases with Revora... but then again bots are pesky and annoying, so most of you will probably see them gone as a plus. You people always tell me I try to rush with my ideas, so pay the price and follow your own words here. Let's see which is more optimal. And I also have an issue with a new comer's first impression when they don't see our community topics on the outlying home page and miss them, but I already expressed that and that respect can't be calculated as strongly as search engine hits.

And for Sam's Sake... the staff needs to be paying more attention here and responding. This is a topic where administrative feedback is important, even though its outside of the command center for some reason. I know we're understaffed, but most of you don't... so prove it for once. Sake...

The real point of concern is how low that is anyway. Are those unique IP hits or just times the page was even accessed?

Yikes... that is low. I figured with as many popular trend topics we have, the Google Bot would be getting us quite a few hits.

And that's a neat feature to have. Why can't staff have a view-o-tron? Would be neat so we can keep track of our division's activity.

The source of these numbers is IPB's admin control panel. How does it calculates it? I think it's the amount of times that the topic is accessed. I don't know how does it deals bot access at them, since it is able to recognize Google Bot and many others.
