So my (former) man Mitt wants to take down PBS, as he so explained in the debate a couple night ago. Don't confuse this knowledge with me actually watching the debate... I wouldn't be seen doing such a stoopid thing. But he says the network has drained government funds for years and tanking it would seriously help the deficit. For you Europeans and Asians out there, PBS is the station that NOVA and failed kid's sitcoms air on.

But is this plan garb'age or sheer brilliance? Pasidon's opinion coming soon.

Something about big-bird and the gang I've heard. Yeah, shutting that down surely will bring America back to its golden age of milk and honey and massive military buildup.

Oh gawd... if Mitt used the words 'milk' and / or 'massive military' anywhere in his speeches, I would drop my axe and vote for the man with enthusiasm

From what I gathered, PBS takes up 0,012% of the budget. It's the usual right-wing story about how state-funded cultural institutions are the devil.

0.012% is actually quite a large number when US budget is involved. Also, in my opinion, with the internet so accessible these days, PBS is sort of moot. If you want to learn how to BBQ a lamb head or force your kids to learn the letter 4, then the internet is always the choice to go. Or books, which is frowned upon these days apparently. So that small billion dollars going into PBS a year could go to better things... so when people make a big deal about PBS going off the air, do they actually watch PBS on common occasion?

It's actually not even a billion. It's 444 million. Or less than a single fighter jet.

Or a week worth of food for Honey Boo Boo. But can we figure out how many average viewers PBS gets in like a day?

No fool, use Bing.

I actually did that before I asked and I wanted more of an official ratings site that offered official numbers.
