Hey guys! So, in the books Glamdring glows with a blue light, just like Sting. Any chances of making it glow in the game? I'd like it to glow eternally. I mean I don't want it to shine when the enemy is close but shine all the time! :p Possible? I think this includes something with the fxparticlesystem.inc Am I right? :D

I'm not the Pro at this but u may have to put a forgedblade object on gandalf's sword take aragorn for e.g. he (and Isildur) have a forged blade object on the skn and it only shows when and upgrade is purchased or used so you'll also have some coding to do ( i'm not familiar with gandalf's files so i actually don't know if he has one already)

Yes you need to do what Rider of Rohan said.
you have to edit the model and add a forged blade (like) effect...

I did this and...not like the guys told you above. Just like Sting, Glamdring glows blue when foes are near. But i won't just give you the code cause i spent like...i think 2 weeks figureing how to do it :). If you wayt for my latest map to be released you can take it yourself from there ;). I must say that your map looks quite good! :p. Not a bad effect either but you might want to get a close up of it. kinda hard to see right now.

as a hint, frodo's sting is existing in the game. How to explain ... frodo has 2 models: one with blue sting and one with normal sword. By coding, when enamyes are near it changes the model. As for glamdring (gandi's sword) - nothing is predefined by the game so i had to do it from scratch. And not like Rider of Rohan said (i tried but didn't work), but as a particle system that follows the sword "bone". The map.ini from my upcomming map is verry easy to read and you will maibe understand when you'll see it

Well, yes. But Frodo has 1 model for himself, and the other model is just Sting's glow. The code never changes the model. RUFrodo_SKN is always shown, while RUFrodoStng_SKN (which is only the effect) is shown when enemies are near. It's not hard to do, not at all, but it's about getting the FX to look good. As you said, you spent two weeks on it? I could do it in 15 minutes, because I would simply do what EA did.. make a new 'model' of just the glow :p Or add it to the existing model, and with some LUA magic make it work brilliant. If I were to do a new FX like you did, I would spend quite a bit more.. I've never really cared about FX's, so I'd probably take a while, as I give up easily when it comes to these things :p

I thought it was an FX due to you saying it was for 1 map. Well done. Can i ask for a sample of the main particle system used? I already know a lot of them but i would love to see what you did to create this effect. :p Altho i already have something similar... haha

Hello Lauri. Of course you coud do it in 15 minutes cause you are who you are. I know you from the old times when i was making my 300 maps (i think you have answerd some questions then). I spent 2 weeks because i didn't know much about scripts and i was running blind. Nice to see you are still around.
@ Apollo : i would gladly provide you the code if i were not to release a new map myself. You will see it when the map is out there.

It is an FX, and I'm guessing it's in the map.ini?

And about the 15 minute brag; I would simply take another approach that's quick for me. If you knew your way around modeling, you'd do it too ;)
