Hi, I'm Raptor6 and I ofcourse am a newbie. Anyway, I thought I might share a request or atleast an idea for a mod, where the main factions have mini-factions. The idea of the mini-faction mod is for each one (or more) belonging to each, major faction to feature a wider range of units, heroes, weapons, and powers from the original. (Doesn't make sense to you?)

So far I've only thought up of two mini-factions for, Mordor and I'm kinda blank for other factions, especially the good ones, so I'm hoping to hear your thoughts on this idea and you can add your own ideas to this topic. Anyway for here are the two for Mordor, Minas Morgul and Men of The East. Since mordor is comprised of just 3 units of orcs, 4 units of men (Two of which are of haradrim) and the heroes being only three nazgul, (Including the witch-king with no dialogue) the mouth of sauron and gothmog, I find it the best example to expand more on the artillery with more orc units and heroes for minas morgul and more units for the haradrim and easterlings.

So anyway here's the, Minas Morgul Mini-Faction.

Minas Morgul

. Heroes
  • Witch-King of Angmar (Cost: 5,000 and 100 command points
  • Toggle Weapon: Sword/Mace
  • Morgul Blade
  • Mount/Dismount on Horse/ Fell Beast (Even Toggle)
  • Leadership
  • Witch-King's Hour (flaming sword)
  • Scream
  • Fear
  • Other eight Nazgul: with names included (Cost: 2000 and 75 cp)
  • (Same, but minus the mace, fear, and the same scream)
  • Gothmog
  • Leadership
  • Iron Fist
  • Fury
  • Mount Warg
  • Day of The Orc
  • Uglog (Uruk)
  • (I got nothing)
  • (Any Ideas for a Human?)

Units

Infantry
  • Morgul Orc Horde (bigger than mordor's, bigger swords with shields, and a couple axes)
  • Morgul Orc Archers (bigger than mordor, with better range and longer distance)
  • Morgul Orc Spears (Orc Pikemen, but more primative than those of isenguard's uruks)
  • Morgul Swordsmen (Like Black Numenoreans, same number but more armor)
Cavalry
  • Morgul Horsemen (Basic Cavalry, Read Chapter TT, Ch IV)
  • Attack Trolls (Three Trolls per unit)
  • Drummer Trolls (Two per unit...don't worry their not stronger than the attackers)
Siege Weapons
  • Battering Ram
  • Catapult
  • Siege Tower
Buildings
  • Windmill: Harvests resources and command points
  • Tower
  • Wall Hub
  • Orc Baracks: Trains Orcs
  • Morgul House: Trains Morgul Swordsmen and Horsemen
  • Troll Cage: Trains Trolls and Spiders
  • Siege Works: Builds Siege Weapons and offers upgrades
  • Banner Carriers
  • Forged Blades
  • Flaming Arrows
  • Heavy Shields
  • Great Beasts (Offered to haul machines further and quicker.)
Powers
(To Be Announced)

Also, for inns, they can be used to summon more than one unit. In this case
  • Uruk Hai
  • Orc Horde
  • Haradrim Archers and Horsemen
  • Easterlings
  • Corsiars
  • Mumakil
Sorry, if this sounds lazy but this is my first try. So tell me what you think and I'll get back to you on that.

Minas Morgul is not a mini-faction, it is a full fledged faction (and heroes for 3 facations)!

11 heroes (12 if you count the 'human'), with all 9 Nazgul -> Just wrong.. That's more heroes than Mordor, Isengard and Wild has in vanilla!
7 unit types, where you basically have the same as Mordor has, only stronger
3 siege machines, where 1 is not useable in the game, and the other 2 are already in Mordor
7 buildings for a mini-faction?
5 new upgrades?
Their own powers? Really?

Really, take some time to think about what a mini-faction is. Because your plan makes it look like you want to make a clone of Mordor, for Mordor, only a bit stronger (and with shitload of heroes).
Think about what Mordor is in the game, what are the strong points that Mordor posess? And where are they weak? Think about that, then try to make a mini-faction that makes Mordor more powerful overall, but doesn't make any standard Mordor units obsolete. It's been a while since I played BFME2\RotWK, but if I'm correct, the only "new" units you have there is Orc Spears and Horsemen. Those are the only ones that Mordor doesn't have already. They already have the other units, and making a new unit that is exactly the same as another one, with a bit more armour, is just pointless.

That being said, making a mini-faction is a good start for a newbie. A couple of units, maybe a hero or two, and perhaps a new building is enough. Possibly new upgrades for the units depending on what type they are. Since you're new, I'm guessing you're not familiar with making custom models either. But we do have some free to use on the main site.
If you want to make something for Men of the West, you should take a look at these models from Nertea.
The Dead Player has quite a few different units avaliable here, where Morgul Warriors and Orc Pikemen might interest you regarding Minas Morgul.
And also xxx.Mr. Xxxx has done many a favors by mixing models already in the game with other ones, to create "new" ones like Haradrim Raiders and Easterling Warriors.
There are also plenty more to find.

So start small, and you'll get where you want. But take good care in planning things, because you don't want a faction to become unbalanced ;) And you don't want to give up, which is easier the more you plan to do.

...ooops. Sorry. I guess I should'a just stuck with a, Morgul faction, or just give the units to Mordor altogether.

Anyway, what did you think of the Morgul Horsemen at least?

In regard to lore there's a good chance the Black Knights that Frodo and Sam see leaving Minas Morgul could have been Variags of Khand, Haradrim or Easterling Riders.

It's really your call what you put in, Mordor doesn't need cavalry since the Trolls fill that role and then some.
Try sitting down with a pen and paper and writing out tech trees while thinking of what the faction needs (weaknesses and strengths as Lauri said) and think about the style you want the faction to use.
Rohan is cavalry centred, Mordor is centred around buffs, Orc Swarms and strong units making up for the weaknesses of the Orcs.

Really? If I remember reading from, "The Siege of Gondor" it's that the southrons and easterlings merely "joined" the morgul host, thou whether they marched out of the city as such is hard to define otherwise, Tolkein would have made it perfectly clear earlier. And plus, I'm pretty certain they were of, Black Numenorean origin like, The Mouth of Sauron what with them said to move like "Shadows." But again I could be wrong.

As for what I want to put...Well I want to put this into the idea, as I mentioned this to be a request, or atleast an idea thou I'm not working on it as such (My PC broke so I can no longer play the game as of this time) However if someone else picks it up, I may join in on the project as a concept artist.

But if you mean, Put what ever I want in the game as in that I, "Am" making it than, sorry but again It's just a concept for someone else who still plays to pick it up. So...yeah from either perspective what ever I just typed may as well have been a joke.

...Oh, Boy! :ermm:

Nobody's going to pick up your ideas and make a mod out of them. If someone wants to make a mini-faction mod, they're going to use their own ideas, perhaps inspired by yours, but it's ultimately their own ideas.
