Look, I didn't cut Dreadnaughts because they didn't show up in the prequels. This is new territory though, since Licensing maintained a virtual blackout on the CW timeline prior to theatrical release. I can handle a couple new main characters, ships, and planets per film. New factions would be an issue, and I'm not sure about the story yet, but I'm sure every effort will be made to make it fit without rendering things apocryphal.

I'm sure he had something in mind for VII-IX

He said that the story of IV,V,VI could be presented in six films but that was in the late '70s. The outcome was that it was told in three.

If it's hard then it's worth doing.

But if they just completely wiped the canon?

And then replaced it!

I'm talking worst case scenario here.

Jettisoning the patchwork of terrible novels seems like a best, not worst case.

I don't think they can wipe it without replacing it outright. I only read that they're interested in movies, television, and games. None of those mediums have ever been bastions of continuity.

Well, if the Original Trilogy was about Luke Skywalker, and the Prequal Trilogy was about his father Anakin, maybe this New Trilogy will be about his son, Ben.

I was already extremely irritated with LFL, for rebooting the Clone Wars with TCW, and Del Rey, for ruining the post-NJO, so I am not sure what to think anymore, because I don't think Disney can fix anything that is of interest to me, and new films are a massive question mark until we know more.

Considering everything George Lucas has done to Star Wars since 1997 has been shit and has been getting exponentially more childish, autistic, and lacking in any charm - I don't even know if Disney could do worse. The Pirates of the Carribean movies were pretty good, so maybe it will be a step up?

Of course there's the aforementioned canon issues, but w/e. I'd honestly rather they stopped making Star Wars stuff, it's already been raped and murdered and thrown into a pit full of concentrated aspergers. It's dead. Star Wars sucks now.

It would have been best if the last official Star Wars thing by Lucasfilm was Shadows of the Empire, that was the last thing they did that wasn't childish and unbearable, and stuck with the feel of the original Star Wars.

ive got mixed feelings about this. forgive me for just entering the party, but i only got power back a few hours ago. i live on long island, new york and we got boned by the hurricane that just hit. around 400,000 homes still lack power.
anyway.
so the future of the SW Universe is in jeopardy

this may not be a bad thing. as has been mentioned before, the Pirates movies were pretty good, and rather heavy for disney films. and their ownership of marvel has brought us great films, again, mentioned. regarding the marvel films, even the hardcore marvel fans were not unhappy with the recent films, with the exception of the latest hulk film, but the hulk has always been a rough character so thats not that big of an issue, same for x-men. first class was good as a film in its own right as well as part of the franchise.

on the other hand, disney is apparently trying to have more family friendly stuff.

im of the opinion that we should just wait and see what happens

we should however, keep a close eye on 1313.

forget about TCW for a minute, because a lot of us want to see that go.
while yes, disney does own the abc network, and a lot of those shows are for more mature audiences, for the most part, they try to stick with kid crap. 1313 is one of the grittiest things ive ever seen for star wars. if that gets canned in the near future, or if it takes on a "new direction", then i am willing to jump ship.

again, if they can TCW, then that would be great. but getting rid of 1313, unless there is a reason that is completely legitimate, that would be akin to neutering the franchise.

as for the future films, lets not panic yet. that there have been films announced is no indication of what the hell is going to happen. the only thing that we know about future star wars films is that the 3d re-releases of the films are on schedule to go out as planned.

Speaking of 1313, presidents at LucasArts have been dropping like Darth Vader is the chairman lately. Not a good sign. Hope you didn't lose anything more than power, johnchm.

Well in all objectivity, LucasArts is the weakest link in all the Lucas subsidiaries.

lol. thanks pr. only other thing was my last shred of sanity, although that was mainly because of being stuck at home with my family, aka the bane of my existence, lol.

the problem stems from Georgie-boy having a hard on for the Clone Wars Era in recent years, to the point where everything else was left to wither on the vine.
lets look at all the projects that could have been done had TCW not been the focus:

another TFU entry (it did deal with the period between the end of TCW and ANH, so its ok in my book), of course we dont know what is in store for the future, so im not calling that one dead.

Imperial Commando (sequel to Republic Commando. yeah its Clone Wars Related, but its not a kiddie entry so again, its ok. i include it because it was canceled.

Battlefront 3. you knew this one was coming.

an actual KOTOR sequel and not TOR.

a new Flight Sim. we havent had a good flight sim since Rogue Squadron 2, and even then, that was a Gamecube exclusive title, so it cant even live on on the internet, and im not getting a wii just to play that.

better books: personally, i think we should drop everything post NJO, and maybe even NJO itself (like you need to ask why), or at the very least, try to have a reboot of some parts. dont get me wrong, having an Extra-galactic Invasion is an interesting idea, but there were parts that disgusted me. like killing one of the Solo kids, as well as Chewie, as well as turning the other son into a prissy boy, then an imitation of his grandfather, then revealing that the whole Light/Dark conflict stems from sibling rivalry, etc.

possibly another Jedi Knight game. Jedi Academy was good, dont get me wrong, but i like playing as gruff Jedi Master Kyle Katarn. we could have had a few more games out of that series.

oh and lest we forget Indy.

You know Pandemic went under a few years ago. That probably tanked the Battlefront franchise. I also doubt BioWare would want to double down on KotOR/TOR, successful or not.

Have you considered this?

If they'd released KOTR 3 as a lead to TOR, ans thus having more pertinent data from gamers to conceptualize the later, they might have had a greater chance of success with the MMORPG. Not to mention ending the KOTOR saga with the attention it deserved. But, alas, we'll never know...

apparently First Assault is an Xbox Live Arcade game, so i dont think its going to be a BF3. something like BF3 is not something you can put on the Live Arcade. im not going to speculate what it might be.
you bring up a good point with having 3 lead into TOR. i would be fine with that as well.

on the other hand, then you get stuff like this
http://loudwire.com/...disney-company/

for those that dont know, machine head is like, middle of the road in terms of how heavy they are on the metal scale. they are on tour with dethklok, who are heavier.

i know its not star wars related, but this is another reason to worry bout star wars' future with disney
