Battle For Middle-Earth(2004) a Real Time Strategy game with maybe the best storyline.
Its a design that brought the Lord of the Rings lore to its justice.
However this game has had many obstacles. The annoyance of the bugs...
The worst issue was servers going offline duo this transition we've lost contact with many mates.

Just to be sure: We are still able to play altogether over the Battle for Middle-Earth through Gameranger.
Not everyone might be able to get the BFME disk there for I added a fix that you no longer need a disk (or mini image) to be able play the game.

My 1.05 patch brings many bug fixes plus some improvements on the usability (I mentioned one above) and game performance.
Take a look through the feature list for more information :

You can also give me any feedback related to BFME 1 through this form:

Note that this is not a balance patch for BFME 1.

Nice idea. Not sure about the legality of a no-CD feature, sounds a lot like a crack, but that might just be me.
Wait, wait... did you really just say 'up2date'? Ugh, ugh, contain the Grammar Nazi! No, I can't stop it! Argh!
Yeah, don't like that word. Or not-word. Ugh.
Anyways, yeah, the features otherwise listed on ModDB make it sound like a very nice fix mod.

And to use this you would have to use your 1.04 patch too?

And I cannot see how you can make it possible to play the game without a disc or a mini-image, without it being a crack. And if it is, it's pretty much illegal. Which makes the mod illegal.

To be fair, I don't think EA actually sell it any more, so it isn't stealing any money from them in terms of sales.

True enough. This may yet be technically illegal, but I highly doubt anyone's going to enforce this.

An older game that was under license of EA games called Medal of Honor allied assault (and their expansions)..
Is still active today, modder community members made fixes for the game were one of which was a no cd crack. Cause some used a no cd crack and others a disk to play online everyone was foced to use the no cd crack... So you didn't get sync error everytime with the server..

So it was widely know and EA never enforced anything related to the reverse engineering done or cracks being shared.

I know it seem so logical for some of you to say its illegal and dismiss it but your missing the big picture...

So what is the big picture? There already are cracks and mini-images..

And more importantly, will it require your 1.04 patch?

One thing I do have a problem with is your naming of this mod. It is a mod, after all, and not a patch. This may end up confusing people, especially when all of our mods require the actual patch 1.03 to work.

Its actually confusing because I put the patch in between mods...
A patch is intended to fix problems. While a mod is made to add more units, buildings, powers, audio etc which create a whole new game on its own..

Maybe call it "Thorongil's patch" or "Unofficial patch 1.05", so people don't get confused and think that it's an official patch from EA.

Patch is definitely the right word for it because it's supposed to fix vanilla BFME and can - I assume - be used alongside a mod. I agree with Naugrim though, it's probably a good idea to call it "Community Patch" or something like that.

It seem like a better idea to call it 'BFME patch 1.05' <^_^

I will make it so that you don't need any pre-installed patches ( <, 1.03, 1.04..)

But then by calling it patch 1.05, you're making people believe that they need 1.04 first, right?

If I don't have either of your unofficial patches, will I be able to play with those that do have them?

Before when you installed patch 1.03 you didn't need to install 1.01 or 1.02.
I follow the same logic to keep things simplified.
So if you install BFME 1.01 or 1.02 or 1.03 than you only need to install patch 1.05 to play over gameranger...

You need to have the same version or else you get a "different version" error just like with 1.01 1.02 1.03 1.04.

And if I have a mod? How does that work with GameRanger? Or was that the one which didn't work with mods? :p
If it's only for vanilla BFME, I don't have any problems with it, except for the name that is. But I didn't like the name of your 1.04 either, so yeah..

1.04 is easier to put in the host name take a look I just took this screenshot and you'll see very fast who has 1.04 ...
The patch only does bug fixes so mods won't be an issue with it...
You can perfectly play mods with the 1.05 patch.
