Sounds like an interesting project!

Somehow, just reading it, reminded me of XCOM... Which is a good thing :)

kudos to Pasidon for this awesome avvy and siggy!

ya, its a game that is very simular to Xcom, but not?

one thing i hated about Xcom was the whole expendable team, with this, it follows the old school approach where every team member is an expert in their field
its closer to a turn based Alien swarm with no aliens, or maybe?

I posted these threads because these are idea's i've been wanting to do for a long time, so these are kinda reminder/dev posts for the future which anyone can post in for ideas or even some concepts etc

Unit Classes
Leader/commander - Assault Rifle/Satcom device
Heavy specialist - shotgun/minigun
Scout/Medic - Pistol//smg/grenades
Sniper/Spy - Rifle/pistol

Engineer/hacker - Assault Rifle/

each class has a primary role that you start off with, as you play through the game you will unlock points to spend upgrading them in a direction, that direction will be very specific and will lock the other role tree gradually

I kinda digged the idea of an expendable team on XCOM. Sure I really felt bad when they died, but I had to plan every step with caution.

Anyways, a modern no-aliens XCOM would sure be interesting.

I myself had some mod/game ideas when I was digging to play XCOM.

Maybe GhostREcon/SplinterCell could also be somehow inspirational?

Do you have the setting already?
It could be on the near future or maybe on a completely different universe, but please make it without the laser/plasma crap weapons :p I

kudos to Pasidon for this awesome avvy and siggy!

Ha, definitely, I like the ghost recon style, I was aiming for something similar, advanced but not to futuristic
the problem with the expendable team it focuses on the player and his action, but if you lost anyone its pretty much "oh crap now I need to train someone new"
which the training system was bad, training a soldier shouldn't be like playing the lottery

I love the original X-Com better then the new one, I played the new one but there are so many things wrong with it, this is not the place to rant though

Edit: with having dedicated team members you can become familiar with and associate and having them all critical to the team, it pushes you to plan every step with caution
simply put, its TF2 vs DoD, i prefer to have that bond with the characters i play, its overall a more rewarding experience
