So, um, yes. It was considered by me to use the Lone Wolf Wordbuilder (Alpha) to help explain the tropics, specifically tropical islands. Being able to build their own 3D island is wonderful. I have, however decided to go with a more stable map-making program (Empire Earth), but here is what I made in about an eighth of the time I am planning for the entire class to input their ideas. The island is pre-built as a recently erupted volcano. And the students can suggest the trees to use from pictures of real islands and tropics (the mangroves is from a picture of Brazil tropics).
