Kickstarter went live!

http://www.kickstart...reamwagon/haxel

If you like the game idea, please support us! If you don't, well thanks for reading! I'm sure there's someone you know that would like this type of game. I'm just trying to get the word out there, I really want to work on this game full time and be able to afford professional music and art.

Thanks!

Phil

I'll be one of the first people to map with it. Which sounds good.

Holy samolians... 75,000 smacks?  Kickstarting is a very delicate process... you already have a good amount of advertisement on what your product is, but not a strong financial plan.  Most successful kickstarts are backed because, not only do they look appealing, but they have a very elaborate financial plan, and their goal doesn't seem arbitrary.  They state why they need their goal and what each cent is going towards.  If you don't... most people have a fear of you not actually committing each donated cent to the game.  I recommend you detail your plan more, especially since I don't think you need that much dough for this game.  Since I'm on recommendations, I also think you should change your art design so it doesn't look like a voxel Halo clone.  It's all about first impressions, and I don't get the best one when I see an albino Master Chief right when I enter your page.

Yea buddy! COD all the way!

I didn't catch this until now.... go wash your mouth out with salt and acid.  It appears to be possessed by terrible FPS tastes.

That 75k is so we can work on it full-time, hire an artist, and hire a musician, and deliver a valuable game in June. That's many months of work for many people.

As far as the financial plan goes, we are right on par with other games... we say (or it's bolded in text) what we need the money for.

I agree however, we should be more clear on everything... it's hard showing off game play, talking briefly about it, being clear, all while still maintaining the interest of the viewer. Other people have already criticized the length of the video, which I think is fine. There ARE many spots for improvement, and we're going to update the video before the KickStarter gets posted on various gaming websites.

Also, our original idea was a Halo clone + MC... so that artwork is fairly representative however inaccurate (I agree it's not blocky enough). It has turned into "the original release will be HALO like, but subsequent releases will have other themes"

Thanks for your two cents!

EDIT

I HAVE updated the KickStarter to spell more things out, added some screenshots, and minor verbiage changes.

It's great you have the 'why?' in there.  Now you can take that even further and plan salaries and announce them.  Not only is that necessary for the people who need to know financial details before committing (like me'self), but it's a really fantastic way to actually interest people to offer their services.  You're not planning on just hiring chumps you know who want to work for free... you're advertising that you want to hire professionals with salaries.  And you need to also state a minimum cap of how many people you need for each division and how much each one will be payed, either as a contract deal or monthly salary... or something.  That's totally up to you.  And if you go over your goal limit, then you also need a plan for adding new divisions or increasing what you already have.  This is actually more than a suggestion... it's quite necessary.  I've seen alot of great looking kickstarters fail because they focus all of their advertising on the game itself and forget that the most important detail here are finances.  In reality... that's what kickstarters are about... staff financing.

I also noticed your albino master chief poster was also a video... good job, Pasidon.  You state in the video a few things that concern me.  Sorry for de' negative nancy role here, Gily, but it's vary vary important to state.  First, your video states that Kickstarter is a great way to release preorders of the game.  That's...... quite the no-no.  Kickstarter is a platform used to raise funds for game development, not selling the game.  If you're giving away ""free"" copies of the game to reward backers, then that's great.  I haven't actually looked at your backing rewards, but I assume the game itself is a reward somewhere in there.  Second, you didn't really announce in the video that you had an interest in hiring staff, like your page says.  That's concerning since you admit the funding is dedicated to maintaining a server and continuing with the project.  Funds for a server is fine, as well as paying people who have been working on this project already who need financial motivations to continue work, but as far as I saw, maybe about 5 different people here were being planned for the staff.  Server maintenance and low staff counts doesn't really add up to the 75,000 mark.  So yea... that really, really needs to be explained in the page, and if all possible, in your advertisement video.  You know I'm concerned if I just spent another 5 minutes typing up another behemoth paragraph.

Ha thanks for your concern, and in the real world 75k is nothing, that's what I make in a year.... now imagine 5 other people for 5 months of work... that doesn't even come close. I will be taking a huge cut to work on this game, just being able to work on it and afford my car and house.

I agree, the video and page are out of sync, I'm working on another video as well as modifying the existing one. Thanks for the input again.

No probs, Gil-Bill.  I just want you ta' be super star.  And I also hope you don't actually use kickstarter funds unethically... that would be pretty bad...... but I'm sure you wouldn't do that.
