Thanks to RG's fenomenal ParticleSystem Viewer (WiP), I was able to locate about 5-6 suitable FX that I could adjust/trim and puzzle together into a much better looking structure fire fx than the default one that EA released with the game - that puny torch looking flame in the middle of the building. This is how structures set on fire, will look in SEE...

 

In later stages, we will probably remove the fire from all structures that are made of rock (like this) or stone (like dwarven). We will also make fire appear only when you use fire attacks, like the flaming arrows, fire based siege or fire magic..

The SpiderPit (Troll Cave) looks particulary cool, set on fire... with its pointy towers sticking up through the flames.

Have you added the camera view scripts to that Caras Galadhon map yet, NJM?

Camera scripts havent been added to every map yet. If the map doesnt have a skybox then the camera script isnt needed.

True that, black "sky" looks terrible =p

 

Glad you like the FX guys. It's a mixture of 5-6 different FX particlesystems, with unified direction and wind caracateristics. Took about one day to compile, but well worth the rather boring hassle of going though all the testing. Btw, NJM if you can... start a map with only Moria. Build a few catapults and bomb a structure. That gives a little more time to view the FX and zoom in (the embers and puffing smoke are nice for example) before someone tears it down.

I can do that. I will adjust my gane settings too. Since I had the ai handicapped at -95% everthing that destroys buildings was one shotting them

Love the FX, and MtL's map! But not sure about it being called a "Troll Cave and Spider Venom Factory" though. Especially the factory bit, which implies construction. How do you construct spider venom?

Yes, but I hope they don't meet in a factory to research how to make venom, when the factory has reached level 2. :p

Well, names in WiP are just names... we'll se what name it ends up with. The problem is that the name needs to describe that this cave is both home to trolls, as well as spiders.
