Me and my friend was talking about aliens a I came thinking if they would be hostile or peaceful. My friends opinion is: 'they would probably be hostile to us because of our planet, resources and slavery. My opinion was that they would be pretty afraid of us I mean just look to our race we are bombing each other, killing all that shit and still we do not stop. I would bet if Aliens would be let's say above USA we would bomb them with nuclear bombs ABOVE our city. And all that nuclear shit would fall down to USA (US)

Lets be pretty clear we are pathetic race.
War, killing , bombing all those motherfuck*ng AL-Qaida an Taliban they literally misuse religion of islam ( am not Muslim) so what's your opinion

( I wanted to check out if people would answer more like me or more like him)

I personally think, like humanity, they would just push us out of the way or pave over us, like we would a tree in the way of construction, rather like in Douglas Adams' book.

I don't think it'd be a priority, that's all.

Maybe a species capable of such long distance space travel would have developed the philosophy enough NOT to kill everything. If we don't then we won't survive enough to build interstellar spacecraft.

I'm sure a caveman would say the same of a human capable of developing mechanics, that they would have developed the philosophy enough NOT to build nuclear warheads. Yet here we are.

Booze hound sell-out... he would be nothing without his beard,

Good topic, Arm.  You should stick around here more often.

But you can's just assume an alien psychology.  How a culture develops depends on it's surroundings and history.  I say there are degrees to which we can assume an alien culture is hostile / happy slappy, but not without knowing a thing about them.  I can assume our own world culture would be peaceful because of all the glitter bombs we have in stock and no real weaponry anymore these days.

That's why we have the Fermi paradox when you bring up the Drake equation. Since we're talking sentient and sapient life beyond our miniscule corner of the universe, you can't have a discussion without those things popping up.

I mean IF they are so advanced in technology why should they attack us for recourses they could just mine them in the asteroids and other planets

There are 2 things will happen if we make first contact 1) we'll fuck them and 2) we'll use them.

You've got to understand that the difference in intelligence between humans and the vast majority of animals is caused by a very small variation in our DNA. What this means in terms of aliens and their attitude towards us is that there is an enormous chance their intellectual capacity exceeds ours in the same way ours exceeds that of ants. Now, how do we treat ants?

Skooma.

Darn it, Mathy... you post bashed me.  But I say DNA doesn't have as much hold as culture in terms of what makes intelligent beings violent or not.
