Hi all!

 

It's my first post, but I've been following this mod for some time, since version 1.1 and loved it. I like to make minor modifications, and here I would like to share them with the community. This mini mod changes the way fighters, bombers and transports behave in dogfights. Their movement is smoother and squadron formations are more loose. My aim was to get rid of those vanilla eaw dogfights where ships looked like insects flying around lightbulbs  :smile2ap:. To compensate, laser cannons' rate of fire has been increased (I created a new damage table, so balance against bigger ships is preserved). The effect is that fighters appears to be "locking" on their targets and firing a full salvo (remember the trench run scene).

(It's a zipped Config.meg. just unzip in the mod's folder. Don't forget to backup your original file!)

 

Changes (what I remember...):

Reduced turn rates of corvette and bigger ships by a factor of 3

Reduced turn rates and max lift of fighters, bombers, and transports by a factor of 5

Significantly increased laser/blaster cannons rate of fire (24 on most starfighters, but they vary. 12 on most bombers. Some laser turrets, like the one from YT-2000 are 48). Laser cannons on corvettes also got a ROF increase. Most fire a salvo of 12.

Reload times on fighters and bombers are random, from 0 to 1.8 sec. On transports and corvettes, 1 to 3 secs.

 

Warning: I tried to keep some balance, but the original PR balance is most likely broken...
