Couple days ago it hit me (not that hard ;)) what this mod is lacking (it deals differently with GC than conventional mods). Saved games editor or, from lack of better name, Purge scrypt.

Not for cheating - that is easy achievable without editor. I raised this issue few times with 1.2 and I'm fully aware that 1.3 will bring some changes to remedy e.g. fighter spam by AI.

I bet that galactic view/land view saves have it's own separate file structures. Land war is not a problem. Galactic Conquest is. Too many units created/slot by AI & endless fighter spam exceeding all boundaries developers thought were impossible to exceed. Because I know nothing about programming I asking for preferably purge scrypt style of dealing with the problem. I'm thinking about tool like this:

1. Open (saved game)

2. Tick boxes for selecting ship classes (all, capitals, frigates, corvettes, fighters!, transports)

3. Button 'Purge'

4. Done

Purge of course for both sides player and AI so neither side will gain advantage. Exception (no purge) for CSI controlled planets.

I'm certain that however good 1.3 will be, sooner or later such scrypt will be useful for any other version than 1.2.  (bar miracle patch from Lucas Arts improving the engine)  :blinky:

Bottom line question: can it be done?

It could probably be done, however PR doesn't have the time to dissect the file format (it's at least partly encrypted or compressed) and none of the other team members have the required skills or knowledge as far as I know.

Phoenix Rising, head of mapping. Thanks to everyone who got us to the position below!
