Since it seems just about the whole Middle east and Mediterranean are in a constant state of chaos.

Onion sums it up somewhat accurately.

http://www.theonion....dle-east,33503/

It seems likely that war with Syria may happen in a matter of weeks or maybe even days.

With the recent chemical weapon attacks it seems a lot of countries are hesitant to attack, there is no evidence of the perpetrators as of yet and I wonder if we'll get evidence any time soon.

A warzone is exactly the best place for acquiring accurate information.

Syria has pretty much taken the spotlight off of Egypt, Turkey and other countries.

The refugees moving from one shit storm to another isn't going to help things.

This is what I think:

  • Religion should stay clear of politics of any country. (That includes the pope as well as any "Christian" parties.)
  • Chemical Warfare should be punished because it is illegal in war - (America wants to because it is trigger happy)
  • War sucks, peace will only come when the people change

It's more than just politics and religion at play in that region, I think a large part of it is factionalism.

That whole region has been at war for thousands of years, conquering each other, slaughtering each other,a lot of bad blood.

Also the fact that they can really throw themselves into a ideology and potentially become fanatics which something that happens very rarely in the west.

When's the last time you heard of a Christian terrorist in the west?

Northern Ireland is the latest that comes to mind and that was more than just religion.

I like to compare this entire situation to Civilization IV.  At the turn of the Modern Era, there's always those leftover spear-men people forgot about from the stone age just wandering around in the deserts, and you don't want to waste money making them useful, so you just throw them at something big and sharp just so they'll go away and stop wasting your soldier tax.

Strange how something like that gets lost.  And not translated.  And not Russian.

The only thing I found even close on google were some conspiracy theory websites for both Christian and Muslim sites.

It's the internet nothing is lost on the internet.

I can't believe you quoted theonion.com as a news site. It's designed to be a comic relief made up news site.

I didn't quote it as a news site, I quoted it as somehow capturing the situation in their cynical fashion.
