Yeah. I got lag all the time - but I really enjoyed the games I had.

AOE2 has some AI mods and some of them are crazy strong.
From what I remember 0AD was born out of an AOE mod wasn't it?

10fps wasn't making me happy, and a buggy map maker was kinda frustrating - but I am still keen to see this get better.

Yeah. It was born from the modification of AoK where they added the Romans. Then they decided to create a new engine for a new game, because the old one was too limited, and 0ad was born. (That's the short story).
@Matt: You're having lag with 0ad's map maker? Atlas is unoptimized, but works fine with me.

*cough* move to Unity
its a nice notion but truth is you'd have to set everything up again from scratch just to build the RTS systems, its what im doing for Battlegrid

well i had a play with the game, and it's got a long way to go before its an RTS, if its one coder, he better know what he's doing, to risk so much is a little insane. you're looking at roughly 25k and about 6+ months of dedicating codind and tweaking
i threw myself into a match against an AI and the AI outgrew me. i was surprised to see them throw up buildings everywhere. and not a single way to destroy them
I was actually impressed by how agreessive they were, but a little stupid with its building placements tho

It's a team of free-time codders. They are going to hire one to push it to full-time.
BTW, You need siege to take down buildings, and AI is pretty-much in development.

The camera controls felt really clunky in OAD
I'd like to share an example of something I see as desirable

it wont be up for long, just what i've been doing in Unity
EDIT: Updated because Mathijs thinks I'm trying to compete against everything.

I played your game, Digi. It was the best game I ever played.
And I used to play a lot of games.
LOTS.

sarcasm or compliment?
a lot of the systems you wont see in that example, all you can use is the camera system which is a lot smoother then OAD.

This whole competition thing you've got going in your mind is annoying me.

competition?
its not in my mind, maybe in your perception.
I really like OAD and i hope it goes well. although their are aspects i would fix in it like its quirky HUD and its lack of communication the HUD displays, but that's just criticizing. as for me posting Unity stuff, I'm just showing some smooth camera controls because OAD felt a bit clunky and you can't demonstrate that with an image
