Hello everybody!
 
We hope you find your time to enjoy the upcoming days during the christmas holidays of 2013.
We'd like to celebrate this by inviting you to a special christmas tournament!

 
This tournament is intended to be a bit different from what you are used to:
We like to focus on the fun for this tournament. "The important thing is not to win, but to take part".
 
For this reason, we present you a map package containig special winter maps, selected and modified just for this tournament.
For more information see 'Maps' below.
 
Before signing up, take a look at the tourney schedule below. The tourney ends this year, not next. To sign up, head over to the sign-up topic. If you have questions/issues, head on over to the support topic.
 
Below you can find the rules and guidelines of this tournament.
 
Important things

• Make sure to read everything below!
• Subscribe to the important tournament topics to get email notifications
• Use the PM (personal massaging) system from Revora to set up your specific game dates
• Read everything again in case you missed something

General Rules

• It will be a 1vs1 random faction competition.
• The competition system will be single elimination.
• The maximum number of participating players will be 16 or 32, depending on sign ups
• Sign-up is done on a first-come first-serve basis, which means you have to be quick.
• Everyone who has a T3A:Online account can participate. Multiple sign-ups are strictly forbidden!
• All games have to be played on the T3A:Online Server. This will be checked based on IPs, user account and server log. No alternatives. No mercy. Use our support if you encounter technical problems.
• Official tournament patch is the official server patch (= 1.05). If both players agree, we will accept games played on 1.04 as well.
• Referees will observe replays for cheaters and hackers.
• If you are caught cheating, you will not only be removed from the tournament but permanently banned from using T3A:Online.
• An official tournament game has to include both player names in the title.

 
Tournament Rules

• All games will be played by choosing 'Random' faction.
• Every match will be best two out of three.
• Each player hosts one game, the third is hosted by a neutral host (if needed).
• Onhost picks map from our map-pool (see below), offhost picks spot.
• Neutral battle takes place on one of the maps from our map-pool below, which is different for each round!
• The winner of every matchup has to upload all (properly named) 2 or 3 replays and write down the result within that post. Upload has to take place in the Tournament Outcome Report topic as soon as the matches are concluded.
• If a participant doesn't show up, and if they do not put any effort in trying to arrange a playing date, then the other participant will be declared the winner by default.
• If a participant uses excessive profanity or behaves in an otherwise unacceptable manner towards the other participant, they will be banned from any future tournaments. In the case of this happening, the offended participant should take a screenshot of the incident and post it in the group topic.

Neutral Hosts / Disconnects

• Every neutral host has to remain absolutely neutral and is not allowed to communicate in any way with the players during the game. Be honest guys! (We consider it to be hard cheating which implies permanent ban.)
• Please make sure you can provide some stable network while participating. Referees will help with disconnect decisions. General advice: Both players should agree on a replay if a disconnects takes place in early game while nothing is decided yet. But remember, in general terms a disconnect will mean that the disconnected faction will probably lose the game (refer to referee in that case).
• If there has to be a deciding 3rd game, it has to be played on a neutral host. The following users have agreed on helping out by hosting your games. Feel free to contact them in need:

Neutral hosts: NeRo, Echo, J2C2KL, Fishy, DúÑ£D@IÑ, Unikorn, IlPrincipino, Aaron, Besty

Mjöllnir and J2C2KL are not allowed to host neutral games with one of them contending.

 
Rules on bug abusing/cheating

The following bugs are not allowed and will probably lead to disqualification if exploited:

• using the S bug for Lurtz, Legolas, Saruman, Aragorn
• units not taking damage while being attacked (they have to be moved - tell your opponent immediately)
• If the extra building slot bug occurs, do not abuse it by making an extra building on that spot. In the case that one building spot is not working and an extra spot is present, then the extra slot can be used. If a slot is not working and no extra is present, then the match should be restarted, but only in early game stages.
• bugged buildings / linked buildings to units giving free buildings. Should be reported immediately and you should agree on a replay if it happens for the first few buildings. At later stages: please continue to play.

Round 1: If needed, the 3rd decisive match has to be played on Druwaith Iaur
Round 2: If needed, the 3rd decisive match has to be played on Andrast
Round 3: If needed, the 3rd decisive match has to be played on Carrock
Round 4: If needed, the 3rd decisive match has to be played on Carnen
(Round 5: Only needed for 32 participants, coming later)
 
We suggest to test these maps a bit before participating

How to get and install the new maps

If you use widescreen resolution in BFME 1, download _t3aXmasMaps2013ws.zip (attached file)

If you do not use widescreen resolution in BFME 1, download _t3aXmasMaps2013.zip (attached file)

Copy/Move the downloaded file to your installation directory

C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\The Battle for Middle-earth (tm)\

(modify to fit your requirements) and extract the .zip archive in that directory. After that you will have the file _t3aXmasMaps2013ws.big or _t3aXmasMaps2013.big in your installation directory.
This file will change your game to match our XMAS Tournament.
 
You will see that you can select the 4 tournament maps ONLY. 
To switch between our XMAS version and the normal game, simply move the file _t3aXmasMaps2013ws.big or _t3aXmasMaps2013.big out of your BFME1 installation directory and everything will be as before.

Important note

 

We have several reasons to allow server-games only: one important reason is to be able to check easily whether someone cheated on you, our participants. Therefore: play your games on the server.

Whenever you encounter technical problems (eg NAT error or other connection problems) please report them immediately! Thats the only chance we can react and try to fix them with you.
