Hello everyone!

With the semifinals coming up soon, most of you had the pleasure (!?) to play on the xmas winter maps.

If you like to give some contructive criticism, this is the place to do so.

Feel free to comment, make suggestions (balancing etc.) or say whatever you have on your mind regarding the maps

  • Andrast (winter edition)
  • Carnen (winter edition)
  • Carrock (winter edition)
  • Drúwaith Iaur (winter edition)

You could also mention which map you would like to see in the final for the 3rd map, and why =)

Thanks!

"To know what question we may reasonably propose is in itself a strong evidence of sagacity or intelligence. For if a question be in itself incongruous and begs for uncalled-for answers, it holds, sometimes, besides embarrassing the proposer, the disadvantage to seduce the unguarded listener into giving absurd answers, and we are presented with the ridiculous spectacle of one (as the ancients said) milking the he-goat, and the other holding a sieve beneath."

I really enjoyed each map.. Druwaith was a breath of fresh air with a new kind of playing style (in my opinion). Andrast i also enjoyed a lot because of the layout, it felt like a good balanced map.

Druwaith Iaur and Andrast are both really good. I didn't really play much of the others, though I enjoyed Carrock as well.

I'd definitely like to see the regular versions of these maps added to the game...

Carrock needs a minimap update for the ford on the bottom, and maybe it still requires a few tweaks because I have the feeling FoD (especially Isengard) is very strong on this map against FoL. Other than that, great map.

Carnen is fairly good as well, balanced and simple. I expected to see it played more often because it generally is very symmetrical.

Andrast is one of my least favorite maps of this tourney, but that is probably because it reminds me of Foi so much - 6 warg creeps, 8 settlements, 2 outposts, castles as starting points. It also is hard to harass FoD as FoL because FoD usually knows your pathway and can counter it fairly easy. I havn't played this map enough to call it balanced or unbalanced though.

Drùwaith Iaur I see a little bit as the problem child of the pack - it really is a cool map but there's only one way to your opponent and once you shut that path, your enemy is trapped. ICT and I thought about a (more obvious) second path through the top or maybe even a mountain pass between the 2 castles.

But I think all of these maps are pretty good (especially visually!) and it's awesome that we could use these maps for the tournament. Since I'm not really the right person to call maps balanced or unbalanced in my current shape, I'd appreciate input from other players. So common guys ! :thumbsupxd:
