How many textures are you using?

Also, I have found it better to place all the textures on the side, so I know what I am using, the theme, and the number of textures, then texturing the entire map and then blending them, lastly fixing bad blends.

I don't know if this will help but try saving it uncompressed (you can choose that in map settings).

Thanks
Until that, I've deleted my username, and made new account. It seems my user was corrupted, and thats whyit was crashing. For now , worldbuilder works fine :)

Interesting... I jave the same issue now that I've got a new video card. I've been editing the isengard map from the bfme campaign to use as a skirmish map and everytime I texture using the textures already on the map I get the same crashes as above.

Are you able to save a copy of the map uncompressed and then decompressed? (This option is in Map settings, the default is RefPack.)

Also - are you getting strange extra files in the map folder?

Yes I can save as either compressed or decompressed.
I was getting some files in the map folder initially with the first couple crashes

NJM,  I heard you recently overcame this issue, is that correct?

If so, how or what did you do to resolve it?

I did a clean reinstall of my bfme II and ROTWK, I also ran a program called CCleaner which cleans up your drive and fixes registry issues. CCleaner is free.
