It's been a while since I've played MO (least a year), and since I'm already having issues getting the latest version installed, I don't want to risk the hassle with installing an outdated version just for 1 level I forgot. What I want to know is this: How/why are Epsilon forces fighting eachother in the last Epsilon mission? Was it just a placeholder mission? Of all armies likely to face civil war, one that's bound by mind control is on the bottom of my list.

The Epsilon commander changes his mind and turns on Yuri.

So, did the commander turn on Yuri to stop him and save the world, or simply replace Yuri as leader? And also, how would an army almost religiously devoted to Yuri (likely involving some form of passive mind control as well) so easily turn against him and support the commander?

Noone cares, but this is the reason why psi didn't have this very last mission.

True, but the Soviet forces in the RA2 campaign were following Yuri as the Soviet Premier, not as their idol or "master." It's been assumed that Yuri uses SOME form of mind control to gain/keep his supporters. The only possible explanation is that the commander somehow used the technology to manipulate his troops to follow him, not Yuri. The main difference with the soviet forces is they are loyal to the nation, but not necessarily it's legal leader. Keep in mind conscripts say "For The Union," while Initiates say "For master Yuri."

There is a reason the final Epsilon mission was later changed in 2.0psi.

HINT: He probably needs the Premier alive (from the first mission) for a reason too.
The Epsilon commander changes his mind and turns on Yuri.
Aw damnit, Petya. And my brain.

Diggin this up before this becomes too old.
Does anyone have the final mission's victory screen or in-game mission briefing on hand? They usually explain in great detail.

A bit of a late post but I felt it bared explanation.
As I recall, it had little in the way of explanation. It was all very vague which is likely why the question was asked. The idea is that you were acting on your own so there really was no person to give you a briefing. I thought the idea was pretty good if it could have been hidden some how as a sort of bonus mission.

I really just want to know for sure the motives. If I recall, in the Epsilon campaign you are the Soviet general from the original YR soviet campaign who's captured and forced to fight for Yuri, never minded control or otherwise convinced that Yuri's goals are the right way. Given that, it could be that he seized upon the opportunity to stop Yuri as a final act of vengence. But then again, Allied and Soviet resistance by that point is pretty much broken, so unless Epsilon would be unable to coordinate themselves without Yuri and fall to what's left of their enemies, it would be pretty pointless to do so. On the other hand, The general managed to bring a small army under his control, but there's no saying how willing the rest of Epsilon would be to accept their master's killer as their new leader. Guess that's why it was changed for 3.0.

I'm aware of that. What I meant was the idea was ditched (I recall conversations that ACT II of 3.0 would be different from previous versions).

I wonder if maybe we can resurrect this idea (perhaps as a bonus mission)
