Hi guys,

I've been on the GR community for awhile playing BFME2 but I'm new to this. When I installed the software and tried to launch the game via the desktop icon, I see the T3A: Online screen with the options of "Launch BFME," "Official Site" and "Community". When I click launch BFME I get an error message asking to insert the CD, which is inserted and works properly.

Any idea how to fix this? I'm stupid with computers, so laymen terms please :smile2ap:

I don't have a .exe file. Only Lotrbfme2 ; Lotrbfme2.lcf ; lotrbfme2_ ; lotrbfme2_.lcf ; lotrbfme2_backup ; LotrIcon ; Lotrsec.big

Doesn't look like I can tinker with the properties of any of them. Please help.

Try to untick "compatibility mode" from the icon on your desk.

Lotrbfme2 will be your .exe

It looks like your windows does not show file extensions (like .exe) for known data types.

Go to the BFME2 installation folder (Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Battle for Middle-earth™ II) Right click lotrbfme2.exe, Properties -> compatibility -> Change Settings for all users -> tick out the compatibility mode.

which will be in your case Lotrbfme2

"To know what question we may reasonably propose is in itself a strong evidence of sagacity or intelligence. For if a question be in itself incongruous and begs for uncalled-for answers, it holds, sometimes, besides embarrassing the proposer, the disadvantage to seduce the unguarded listener into giving absurd answers, and we are presented with the ridiculous spectacle of one (as the ancients said) milking the he-goat, and the other holding a sieve beneath."

Compatibility mode was already unselected. And yet I continue to have this error. Any other suggestions? Unfortunately it's becoming increasingly clear that this is not an upgrade over GameRanger. Shame.

A Ferrari will not be better than a Lada if you can't get it to start, no. You said it worked fine before you installed T3A:Online? Other's have reported the same problem, but most solved it by unticking the Compability mode... strange it does not work for you.

Do you have the English version of the game installed? Any mods\patches installed?

Hello,
It seems that it is working if you install a no-cd patch (you can find it on gamecopyworld : http://gamecopyworld...e-earth_2.shtml ).

I may not be an expert of foreign laws, but as far as I know it is legal if you own the original CD. Moreover, it's more confortable if you don't need any CD ...

So please try to patch this game and tell me.

Edit :
To be honest, I would recommand to first install the NO-CD, check if it works, then only install T3A:Online.
Indeed, if you first install T3A:Online and after patch it with NO-CD, and if it doesn't work, you won't be able to know weither it doesn't work because of T3A:Online or because you didn't patch it correctly.
