The title explains it all. Is it finally worth it to upgrade to windows 8.1 instead of sticking with windows 7? thoughts? things to keep in mind? let me know. i have been thinking about it for a while and i need someone to either talk me into it or to talk me out of it.

Get out of Windows 8.
Stay with Win 7.
Enought said.
But on a more seriously note, Win8, IMHO is a plataform for Mobilie and touch devices. It should have been stayed away from PCs.
I had a poor touch netbook with it. It workd quite nicely, but the netbook was really poor in memory and processing. So it didn't run well.
Stay with the safe Win7. You won't regret it.

If you want Windows 8; get it, use it, love it. 8.1 is actually really good and an update is around the corner to add a normal start menu back to the mix so you're basically getting the same thing with a slightly different UI. You can safely ignore Kenobi since he's just an ignorant hater. You won't go wrong with Windows 7 either. This is one of those "flip a coin" moments where the decision really boils down to what it is you want.

It's bootup is faster than 7 tho, that one is true. Still, in Beowulf's terms, I am also an ignorant hater cuz I can't stand Win8 and when 7's support expires I'll just move to Linux. My reason is that it actually does what I tell it to do.

Whatever issue you've had with Windows 8 before is currently a non-issue. I've used it extensively and there are no problems that it has that Windows 7 doesn't. Unless you've used it for serious work, you're probably not qualified to properly comment. Regardless, OS choice is up to the user. I do plan on getting 8.1 to replace 7 on my main tower so I can install 7 on my print server. Gotta get rid of XP...
