Man, only 2 episodes in, and we're off to a great start. First off, man, Arya has really become a stone cold killer, the way she slowly inserted a sword into the victim's body, twice!

And that Purple Wedding. I knew what was going to happen, having read the books, but they executed it really well. I kept checking how much time was left in the episode, because I knew he was going to die, but was wondering if it was still going to happen in this episode. But then it did, and it was really gruesome. In my memory, he just coughed a few times, then dropped dead. They really gored it up with the puke, blood and blue face though.

I also liked the shot in the sept, when the septon talked about "those who wish you harm" or some such, and in the (focused) background you saw exactly those people,

I've actually been avoiding this since I haven't seen the start of the new season yet.  This is one of those shows where I select a prestigious few from my riffing team to watch it with me so we can make fun of it live.  None of us can watch it by ourselves until we do the riff.  My trashing will come here in a week or two.  Unless it's actually good again.  Just skimmed the first few sentences to see if I could comment yet.  This was about it.

All caught up.  And I've never been more bored.  I don't get it... the good points people are taking from these episode are their endings.  And that's a good point since season 2.  It's like 90% of an episode is filler, then they do something actually not boring at the ending.  I don't expect constant action or death, but just something.  SOMETHING.  Not just sitting around and talking about the plot.  Actually get on with the plot.

And Geoffrey was one of the last characters I actually liked.  He actually made interesting scenes, and he also hated everyone I do.  Don't see what's not to like.  Now he's dead, so there goes the only good moments in King's Landing.  Back to talking about plots and drinking wine on a balcony, talking about plots and drinking wine in rooms, and sometimes walking and talking about a plot.  Invigorating.  But at least that horribly annoying whore woman is gone.  "How dare you forcefully marry a woman and keep me around still!  Let's have sex." That typically summed up her scenes. Jamie Lanister is back to being a spoiled prick.  So much for character development in the last season.  Everyone else is a prick still, so might as well match the character sets.  The Hound and the Stark girl have fun scenes, when they rarely come.  Not the older Stark girl... you know... the one who just cries all the time in King's Landing.  Heck no.  I got tired of her brooding since season 2.  Hasn't stopped yet.

Gen thinks GoT is porn because it shows nudity instead of inferring it/leaving it out altogether. A very Christian line of thought, where even functional nudity/sex scenes are frowned upon because Adam and Eve or something.

Mathijs wants to bring Christianity into everything. =p Adam and Eve are considered the first married couple, but I don't know what you are on about there. However, one of Jesus' ancestors was a prostitute, I don't know why the writer of the book she is in put in that detail, but I suppose they wanted it to be accurate.

I don't like the idea of humans being consumables (soldiers, slaves, prostitutes), and I don't like men whose only thought about women is that they want to sleep with them (in fact that's what makes me mad, because I know some people in RL that are like that). That is why I avoid GoT, I don't particularly want to see that sort of stuff (and that gif of that boy made me puke, yuk!). Fine if it's historically accurate to the point of everybody and his dog wanting to watch the show, that's fine - just count me out of any further GoT discussion and please don't let underage people watch it, the little ones are being screwed around by the media enough already.

Pretty much yeah. If you take a look you'll see that GoT has the golden formula. That's why it is so sucesfull:

It has gore/violence and blood everywhere.

It has nudity, sex, porn.

That naked women/men and put it in a blood batch, violent killing, yet a somewhat good nonsence neverending story and you'll get America (and apparently the rest of the world too, hooked for life).

The only thing missing would be the rock 'n roll, but the soundtrack I heard is equally awesome.

That's not entirely true.  I do agree that George R. Martian wrote sex power fantasy novels targeted for both older men and women (as they do), but that's not the main reasons.  People aren't that blunt.  Yea, the show is filled with nude people and crap, but to be fair, that's barely any of the show.  Most of it is, as I have mentioned, people sitting down (or sometimes walking) and talking about the show's plot.  The reason people tolerate this is because they are good characters.  Some of them... that annoying foreign whore woman was a bad actor and repetitive beyond measure.  No, what people talk about are people they hate dying (references above), moments of high suspense, like the wedding in the last episode, or moments of just stabbing people.  The problem with this show is that it's about 5% of that.  And the rest is boring.  Why it's everyone's favorite ye' olde action quest, I will never understand.  I guess people will take anything they are given, told it's good by a million people, and buy every single moment as if it's pure art.

I brought up Adam and Eve because when those two ate from the Tree of Knowledge (which is apparently a bad thing because the bible says ignorance = virtue) they realized they were naked and felt ashamed and covered themselves up. It's one of the root causes of Christians being all prudish. I happen to know Gen goes to church a lot, so the connection was easily made.

It's not like GoT glorifies prostitution, war, or slavery. It just doesn't shy away from showing these things where appropriate. One of the main characters is currently on a pretty grand and succesful campaign to end slavery, by the way.

And yeah, it seems a show that's fairly uncompromising in its portrayal of sex is something people want to see. Who would've thought. It's not like they're genetically rigged to enjoy sex.

Pretty much yeah. If you take a look you'll see that GoT has the golden formula. That's why it is so sucesfull:

The only thing missing would be the rock 'n roll, but the soundtrack I heard is equally awesome.

It's not just gore/violence/blood, it's decently-written political intrigue with a real sense of danger, as the show is not afraid of following through on bad decisions characters make, and does not shy away from the often bloody consequences of these mistakes.

It has nudity and sex, but it isn't porn. Pornography is people performing sex acts for the sole purpose of arousing the viewer. That's not what the intent is here. If all you got from watching GoT is 'oh boy dem titties', that's you being sex-obsessed.

I don't see the criticisms of Jaime acting like a spoiled child now that he's back in King's Landing.  If anything he's trying to be responsible by leading the Kingsguard and learning to fight with his remaining hand.  If anything he's been shat on a lot by other characters for getting captured and maimed.  Everyone from his sister to Loras Tyrell has taken shots at him over it so far.  This isn't the same character that pushed a kid out of a window.

But I still can't figure out why people make such a fuss about this show, if, if i got the point correctly, it's all based in a book that has been written and out, so there aren't any spoilers to be shown, if the book is out...

Why can't people go read the book and get smart, instead of watching the TV show?

That's how the world is getting dumber. People don't imagine things anymore, all they want to do is to get something pre-made and pre-imaginated and simply watch. That's also my rant about it.
