Tony Abbott is a close friend with Cardinal Pell (the slimiest piece of shit you ever did see).

Normally I'd make a witty comment about bad politics and how godawful it is, but considering the state of affairs I find my nation in... I can't. I will say though... you guys put up with a lot of shit down there. How the hell can you stand paying nearly double what I do for video games and such? I mean... fuck me.

Yeah we are usually among the last to get new games if they make it here at all and pay more although games have gotten a bit cheaper.
A few years ago new games were hitting the $110-120 mark and that's not even CEs, Tekken 4 was $110 when it was released.
We still pay the mark ups on digital content like music as well which is kind of fucked up.

So the High Court has deemed the government's funding of the Chaplaincy program as unlawful.
But this result is bittersweet it blocks the current version of the program but does not mean that it won't go forward in another guise or that separation of church and state is really a thing here.

The entire idea of a Chaplaincy program in a public school is stupid to begin with.
They are instructed to assist students but never "proselytising their faith" but what else is a chaplain supposed to do, for the most part these aren't trained counsellors or support workers.
The Labor government loosened up the program by allowing schools to hire a professional counseller instead, this was overturned by the Liberal party so the program only supports government funded chaplains.
When I was in High School we lost our guidance counsellor who was replaced with a chaplain.
A chaplain is no good to an atheist.
I don't realise the one who sued the Government Ron Williams is actually from my town.

All schools need a trained mental health counselor.
