Hello, I hope you can help me once again!

I have been trying to play with my brother online in T3A. In this way, I tried portforwarding and I did it manually inside my internet browser at the router's webpage following the instructions given in portforward.com. At the end, I found that my router had a list of games for portforwarding automatically, and the settings were the same I put, so I did it right.

However, only me of us can play, not both. I think that the reason why is that when forwarding ports, I needed to put my IP address (of this computer), but I should have written both my brother's and mine. But this is not possible, is it?

The opened ports for BFME1 are as in the following capture:

Captura.PNG

where I have put black lines in my IP address because I have heard (from a friend when I was at school xD) that knowing IP addresses gives hackers many tools to hack you. And since I don't know what an IP address nor a nat is (but nut :p)...

Do you know if I have to put half of the ports towards him and the other half towards me, or... i have no criteria to decide what should work.

My brother and I can play online "with each other and the machine", but not with other players.

Can you help me and tell me which parameters should I put there? Many thanks!!!!!

Well, just about the only thing you can't do is port forward both on the same port. I think the easiest way for you would be to have just one entry (for yourself) where you set all ports in the screenshot to 16000 (source port start, source port end, destination port start and destination port end) and no entry for your brother. That means though you should have this in your Options.ini:

FirewallBehavior = 1
FirewallNeedToRefresh = FALSE
FirewallPortAllocationDelta = 0
FirewallPortOverride = 16000

... and your brother must not have that.

Alternative:

  • Make an entry for yourself with all ports set to 16000
  • Make an entry for your brother with all ports set to 16001
  • Make sure you have the above code in your Options.ini
  • Make sure your brother has the same code in his Options.ini, but change the PortOverride to 16001

It worked!!! :D Thank you very much!
The worst problem was to put a static IP in both PCs, it was really hard. But today I have tried to play with my brother and two players from abroad, and it worked ;)
