I don't think anyone that would honestly consider frying their enemies with artificial storm clouds is entirely right in the head. Saner than anything Epsilon has done, but even a nuke is little bit saner than weather control.

Apparently, teleporting to dinosaurs and frying with light beams is more sane than weather storm.

Ever heard of HAARP(if you believe in the conspiracy that it modifies weather/creates earthquakes), I've remember someone in the forums say that all weapons from Red Alert is an exaggeration of it's real life counterpart(e.g. Allied Chronosphere and Gap Generator/Epsilon Stealth are an exaggeration of the Philadelphia Experiment, Epsilon Mind Control is an exaggeration of project MKUltra). That's probably the case with the Weather Control Device and HAARP.

Cool and while we are at it the radiation cannon ( irradiator ) could be referring to the microwave gun that the Germans supposedly developed it WW2 , and supposed flying machines that resembled UFO's , do any of you know there the idea the Iron Curtain came from ?

I'm thinking mind control was more so inspired by the real life research into mind control conducted by Stalin in the late 40's and early 50's.

Iron Curtain was the name of the physical border between the NATO and the Warsaw Pact nations during the Cold War. I don't particularly recall any military technology that follows suit. Westwood must've thought the name was cool and made a shielding SW out of it.

I think Epsilons stealthtech was intodruced with Mental omega. That was njot part of the vanilla game.

However the whole Yuri faction has alot of 50s B movie feelings to it

Maybe Yuri spends his free time watching old sci fi movies and takes notes.

The tech did exist in the canon Red Alert universe. Remember the 2 missions from the Aftermath expansion "Let´s Make A Steal"(https://www.youtube....1Ku8A_&index=29) where Volkov and Chitzkoi steal the designs and prototype of the Phase transport, a stealth missile APC (http://cnc.wikia.com...Phase_transport) and "Test Drive" (https://www.youtube....1Ku8A_&index=30) where the Phase transport prototype with Volkov inside sneak in the Allied's bases and destroy key targets.

I'm suprised no one mentioned the Epsilon's Brutes refers to Stalin's attempt to create hybrid Ape-Human Super Soldiers with his scientist Ilya Ivanovich Ivanov artificially inseminating human subjects and gorrillas/other ape species as experiments.

I think the mixed hulk-frankenstein reference is too overpowering for people to notice.

The real life purpose of the Iron Curtain was to make Soviet Eastern Europe more 'impervious' to Western influence, otherwise one doesn't need to bother building kilometres of fences. Should it work as intended, it would be Shielding combat units is probably a wacky idea that WW thought up as a gimmick counterpart to the Chronosphere.

The Phase Tank in RA1 is probably just WW wanting to reuse code used for Nod's stealth tank (and ended up writing more code because Phase Tank using Submarine sounds is weird). There was no story to it other than that the Allies developed an experimental prototype. The concept of stealth was a hot topic throughout the Cold War in a more realistic way - stealth against radar. In RA2/YR the RadarInvisible tag is specially suited to this. Of course, magical stealth stayed because submarines needed it, code-wise.
