Ok folks, here's an idea: lets make a new GC campaign, with input from all of us.

Only the twist is 'all of us' means we're making it for ourselves, the forum users, half as an intellectual exercise and half for fun.

As of this first post (which I shall edit as it is discussed) nothing is set in stone.

Obviously the main limiting factor will be in getting people who know how to do the actual modding to help, but if we can just tell them what to do where it will greatly simplify things.

Anyway, first bit we need to determine the when and the where.
When being the time range covered, and the where being the location.

Uhuh... I know nothing about Petrolution but I know for sure that if you're an idealist without any experience, this is gonna fall flat. Also, modding is a creative hobby, you don't just do what people tell you.

I don't even know what Petrolution is, I'm just here for the PR mod.

And I have modding experience, indeed usually such a project DOES fall flat, however the proper way the PR team has done their mod makes this so much easier.

However, that's why I'm keeping the premise simple, which is made VERY easy due to the way the PR team has standardized everything within the SW cannon.

As I said previously:

Anyway, first bit we need to determine the when and the where.
When being the time range covered, and the where being the location.

We determine the era, that means we determine which models of which vessels are buildable for the two factions, as well as how many upgrades are avalible.
We determine the location, we can use all of the pre-existing systems the mod team has produced to make a map suitable to the when.

And by we, I mean the regular PR forum users who have knowledge of the front-end of the mod close to the level (or on par) of the PR team itself.

If we can produce a design doc that lays everything out, actually making the map from that point becomes easy.

For one example lets say we intended to reproduce the X-Wing novel "The Bacta War".
Well first of all, all the maps could be made space only (preferably, it'd have a restricted tech tree that brings starfighters onto ground maps, but the preference needs to be starting simple so it actually has a chance of being accomplished)

From there, we lay out a series of "neutral" systems and deep space areas to represent hyperspatial travel within the local area.

Then we pick the tech tree of avalible units/researches for that campaign.
For that given example, the Executor class Star Dreadnought, Imperator II Star Destroyer, TIE Fighter, TIE Interceptor, T-65 X-Wing, A-Wing Interceptor, Lambda class shuttle, Gand curious ships, Pulsar Skate, and the Aldreanian warship Another Chance.

The last three are the only ones which do not already exist in game.
The Gand ships were modified TIE Bombers with improved stats.
The Skate is a light freighter which could use a YT-1300 model as a placeholder
The Aldreenan ship Another Chance could also use another light capitol ship with modified stats as a placeholder.

Now, the placeholders are no problem at all.
Just play the mod, go to a neutral world and attack in a GC campaign, you'll find ships with alternate loadouts aplenty.

That means all of this is doable with NO new resources needed, just editing the relevant text files for a new campaign.

Oh, also, as for how the SSD Lusaynka was took down in the books, just give a large swarm of freighters/transports proton torpedo and concussion missile launchers, and suddenly you have all you need for this to work.

Anyway, incase any other forum users wish to contribute, let me be clear I wasn't saying we use that book for the campaign, just that it uses few enough ships and has a clear enough scope (in terms of planets involved) to be something to lay out easy.
