Speaking of warm... Sweden is over 30, sometimes 35 degrees celsius at daytime atm, so progress is somewhat slipping as i "have to" basically stay in the water all day, lol... (vacation). Anyways, here's the two bodies and the three sets of armor (shoulders). Combined with the three diffrent skin colors and nine different heads, it should look pretty random I hope... (Never mind the dummy head in these screens). And I know the bodies don't seem to differ that much in this screen dump, but when put on the same spot, the middle one is way more buff actually.

When these guys are done, I "only" have Fimbul, Yazneg, Bolg and those ugly Goblin Town gobbos left to do, before SEE dc's Hobbit movie assets are up to date for this faction and I can finally go back to coding the final touches before moving on to Erebor faction...

They look good. Though the armor changes are subtle there's a good difference between them. I still think they could have even more variation. Ie: gloves, wrist gauntlets and belts. I'm fussy though. Once in game it'll be interesting to see how different they look.

Yeah I agree... I guess I just drew the line somewhere :p Also, I followed the concept on the image below, where they do look somewhat similar. But with all them heads and skin colors, and random weapons I think it'll be pretty cool anyway =) Kind of like the Moria goblins, that all heave the same head and armor, just randomized. Still it looks fairly varied.

I have been mega-collecting images of the Hunter Orcs of Gundabad. =D

http://imgur.com/a/OqBQz

That link should work, although I haven't finished sorting all the images out, removing duplicates or naming the images.

I think that the three you created are good because they are similar but I think there should be more variety. =D

The problem as it stands right now, is that those three models have the same skin colour. When they get diversed, and especially with heads and weapons, it'll look a lot better. The armour will still look very similar, so I would suggest some colour variations in the armour itself too, for good measure.

Well, like I said... 3 sets of armor (shoulders). Combined with the 3 diffrent skin colors and 9 different heads, should look pretty random. I will post screens of 3 complete dudes with different bodies, skins, heads and armor when I'm done with topology and UV mapping... *pheew*

Matt, this is a great collection of images, even though the cpncept scetches are not really what we see in the movies. But the images from the set are great. Have no idea where you found those =)

Btw, an offer: whoever helps me rig these buggars, will have access to use them in their own mod as a contribution. In case someone would be interested in that.

I think I see the problem I have with your skin now. It's the lack of layers and depth. It looks like it's all just one-size-fits-all, and everything is just one piece of cloth. I know that it's probably easier to change this in Photoshop afterwards, but atm the clothes and armour does look like an extended part of the body.

Layers and depth could be achieved with more shadows? These can be added in perhaps when they are optimised. =D

Yeah, it kinda looks like all the clothing and armour is a single piece, instead of multiple pieces of cloth and armour.

Oh? Okay...

Topology is taking time, so we'll see what you think when all the meshes are UV mapped and in low res, ready for rigging...

Atm, I'm fiddling with Fimbul though :p
