It's just now, after all these years, that I find out René Auberjonois (Odo) voiced Moebius in C&C Renegade. Still trying to connect the two, I always imagine Auberjonois with his Odo-specific rusty voice :p

FYI he also was the first guy who got killed off in the first Inspector Gadget live-action movie. I was like wut.

Hell, if this continues, when I'll have time I rewatch the entire TNG-DS9 stories. Dunno never was fond of Voyager - the Kazon arc was boring. It Grew The Beard only after the Borgs were dropped in IMO. And not because of Ms Fanservice Seven, but overall stories were better.

True. Although I don't fully hate Voyager, it does seem the most lacking (if we leave out Enterprise, they shouldn't have slapped the Star Trek prefix in S3 :p) in storyline and characters. The Doctor owns, though.

Yea, the doctor on Voyager is probably my second favorite to Dr. McCoy.  He's defiantly better than Julian... the little pervert.

Yes, the Doctor saved the series. Especially after he got the mobile holoemitter and finally could earn himself the respect he was worthy of. TBH, couldn't bear even looking into Enterprise but can't stand TOS neither - watched the two pilots and blinked twice that the series which were quite much decisive in my early teenhood were all originated from an agressive and lame space western, so to say.

The first season of the original Star Trek was pretty great. The second season, where I think most of the writers were replaced, was awful.

Actually, it was imagined as a space western at the time :p

I find your dissatisfaction with TOS logical. It aired almost 50 years ago, we don't look at that like the fans from the 60s/70s did :p

Neh... people back then didn't understand technology.  Shows like Star Trek were in their golden age.

The first season of the original Star Trek was pretty great. The second season, where I think most of the writers were replaced, was awful.

Ha!  Yea... it was all great, but because they were so cheese.  I miss a good, cheesy show... but one that doesn't even realize how cheddary it is.

Yea, well... go away.

I just saw the episode where O'Brian gets his head implanted with 20 years in a Cardassian prison.  As cool of an idea that was, it just didn't seem to be written all that well.  O'Brian was going around like he got back from a 20 year vacation, not a 'orrible prison where he had to sleep in the dirt and starve every day.  Not to question the acting skills of the great Colm Meany.. he's fine.  It's just that they came up with these great ideas, but didn't implement them well at all.  Which, I've been so soiled by 21st century television drama, I guess I have a bit too much expectation for the earlier years of TV drama.

But also, if you want to see Colm Meany back in television, go watch Hell on Wheels.  Great drama about 19th century railroad building.  And yes, Meany is back to being a big engineering meany.

What happens to Odo at the end of Season 4 is really good.  I won't spoil it for you, Gen... but it's pretty tasty.

Just finished season 5.  Holy crappus... that was a baller ending.  Yea, the current place where I'm at and the beginning of this show are two different forces entirely. Wow, wow, wow.

So, I just finished Deep Space 9.  Wow.  It was sooo good.  It was a bit cheese in a lot of places, and the 90's style of minimal character progression sort of bugged me.  Sort of... no, it bugged me a lot.  But it was still a really great show.  My big issue was that there were just too many throw-away episodes.  A lot of useless crap happened that got un-happened, and such.  But the Quark throw-aways were always quality.  Him and the Grand Negus (however it's spelled) were great characters together.  And also Liquidizer Brunt, FDA.

And yea, the last episode ended well enough.  I could tell it was a bit rushed... as was the entire last season. If I had to watch it weekly on TV, it probably would have discouraged me since the battle planning at Cardasia and the Pa-Wraith nonsense just kept getting nowhere until the last episode.  And that Pa-Wraith stuff was really corn... OoOoOoOo... the big, evil guy gets possessed by spooky evil fire ghosts and gets Jedi powers.  And in order to summon them, you had to travel through a dark, spooky cave, drink from an evil chalice, and make a sacrifice.  "But the Pa-Wraiths aren't evil!!"  Said only stupid people.

That Bajoran spirituality part is a pretty unfinished and maybe even stupid idea, IMO. But I agree, Ferengi episodes FTW.

Ya ya.  But now, it's time to move onto Next Generation.  "But Pasidon... you should have started with NG!"  Hush, boy.  But I've already gotten into the first few episodes.  Leslie is an annoying little prick, Dr. Crusher is boring, and Warf's head frightens me.  And that annoying BetaZed woman, or whatever she is.  "I sense a disturb'ance in de' windzzz!"  Guh... she's pointless and grating.  But other than that, hurray for Next Generation!

This thread needs some lovin'.

And what better way to do so than commenting the impending doom of the newly announced Star Trek series that will air in January 2017 (also, this mentions the 13th Trek film called Star Trek Beyond, guess I missed that info).

Yea, I heard about that.  These series just keep getting worse, but we're currently in a golden age of TV writing.  Maybe there's hope this time.

Oh yes.  Networks like Fox, NBC, even the blaad'ie CW... they're actually pumping out good, quality shows that I wouldn't expect out of them.  Shows like Grimm, The Flash, Gotham, Better call Saul, Constantine, Dare Devil, Other Space... these are master class shows that have confident writers, which is a component that has shockingly been lacking from early 21st century television.

Unfortunately, we're not in the golden age of television.  People just watch shows online, which kills ratings and kills shows.  If an incredible show like Stargate Universe can get canceled, then a new Star Trek show is absolutely vulnerable to being bullcrapped out of existence.
