No man you most likely didn't install things wrong.

I have noticed that for Command & Conquer games, your AI teammates suck ass compared to your opponent AI. Seems like its the same case with BfME.

It does up the challenge level but it is kinda stupid. even mods are having a hard time to fix it, like in Mental Omega, the problem still persists - your AI allies are douchebags where as the enemy AIs are much more competent and attack more frequently.

i clearly noticed that when playing 3v3 on weather hills, glorfindel and celeborn didnt retreat at all their health was almost empty still not retreating. BUT  i have seen Lurtz retreating and he was on enemy team. elves also didnt use upgraded arrows upgrade ( no silverthron or fire arrows). and i dint see no noldoir units. but my second ally (dwarwes) did use forged blades and armor i didnt of course pay attention to their heroes. but dwarwes AI acted better than elves. so did i install something wrong ?

Probably unrelated, but I always noticed the ally AI in the original Battle for Middle Earth seemed far superior than the enemy AI. Then it sort of switched around in the next set of BFME....
