I hate Apple.  No, not the fruit.  The technology.  I usually don't prefer the product, and I think the culture around it is intolerable.  But I usually recommend a Mac to people who do lots of media stuff.  Nothing really biased against it... just prefer Windows.  But now I hate Apple.  Obnoxious pricks, is the choice of words I prefer to use.  I like watching live technology events to learn what's going on in companies, even though I don't particularly care for certain companies I follow.

But there's a huge problem.  If you aren't watching it on an Apple product, you can't watch it at all.  NOPE.  Apple doesn't want you watching their events if you don't use their products.  That's probably the most obnoxious thing I have ever witnessed.  This event is happening now, but guess what?  It's not even working!  I spent AGES getting this stream to work on VLC, and it worked for the first 2 minutes.  But now the stream has completely crashed for everyone, even people watching it legitimately on an Apple product.  It's hilarious, yet just a complete waste of everyone's time.  Steve Job's ghost must have gotten caught in the magical Mac projection machines and jammed the wizard gears... I dunno.  I hate Apple.  They're pricks, and this entire event has just annoyed me beyond expectations.

She must be corrected.  Buying an iPhone is like burning your money for a Satanic ritual.  But I was Skyping a friend of mine while it was going on, and he was able to stream it though his ApplePad, or whatever they're called.  But not after the conference didn't even function on his Apple devices for 20 minutes.  But I got a good idea of what happened... and I'm sad I missed it.  Because it was awful.  And I may do a Rage Hammer on it today.

I disagree, apple had fantastic products for those willing to pay the premium I think the reason they make it so you can only watch the event on the device is to give the message that if you don't have a product yet then you should go get one. It's for apple enthusiasts like developers etc. Also, the stream did mess up a little bit. But after about 10-20min it was fine for me on all my devices.

Why should I get an Apple product if I can't even watch their stream?

Yea.. 10-20 minutes... great.  That was only 40% of their conference wasted, even though they spent millions of dollars organizing it. An even better question: why buy an Apple product if they can't even get their streams to work?  The answer is incredibly simple.

Its not necessarily the streams issue but rather how many users are watching it. The event was fine for me. so eh.

Yea, that's a typical Apple response as well.

Yeah I don't know if I really share their view of a technological Apple utopia either. Just something like the ability to send a prewritten response message is a further retardation of communication. If you don't even have to think about what you're "saying" to someone then there is no communication at all. There's also just a massive hypocrisy... thinking they are helping Humanity but only the rich c*nts who can afford it or the dumbfounded who sell their families and steal to get a hold of some of that Apple white-gold.

I like my iPod Classic 160GB and iTunes, but that's literally the only Apple stuff I've got. Overpriced, overrated, and largely underwhelming.

Of course some people prefer iCrap, that's why it continues to make money off the back of workers killing themselves over shitty wages, working conditions and prospects.

I suppose I should note that I jailbroke it and use it on a Korean network so I have access to all the "locked features" which is the primary debating point when comparing the two devices.

Aside from the larger screen sizes and resolution I can't see any real reason why an android is typically any better or worse.

I don't use my phone for oodles of features and apps. I invest my time with technology in my computers. (Go see my PC thread)

It's a phone. It has the apps I need to talk to my girlfriend, browse the forums, and look at cat videos. /sarcasm

Now when we're talking MacBook vs PC there is a much better ground of points to debate about.

Edit:

Oh and don't jaw at me about cost. For the last three years I have basically been scamming Verizon while staying completely within the terms and agreements. I signed a contract three years so and got my android for about $100 which is normal for buying a new phone while signing a contract.

When I got stationed in Japan and my Verizon contract became unnecessary I had it suspended but not cancelled. So for two years I had my android without actually spending more then $250 total for the phone and monthly fees.

Upon arriving back in the states during leave en route to Korea I re enabled my contract to use it while I was in the states for the time being, and come to find out I was also eligible for an upgrade. So I upgraded my aging android to this iPhone so that I can try and be unbiased in my phone juices having used both sides of the spectrum.

I paid $100 for this iPhone, then as I left for Korea I once again suspended the contract. So I've gotten two phones and held a contract for here years while jot paying more then even half the price of one phone by itself.
