I recently took the opportunity to contact Mark Skaggs.
Me:
Hey Mark,
As the Leader of the3rdage.net I just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate your work on Battle for Middle-earth. It's been many years but our modding community is still active and developing content for this great game. I saw your message regarding Generals modding and thought I should let you know that people are still playing and modding Generals' little brother.
Last year, developers at the3rdage.net created a custom GameSpy-replacement server (t3a:online (http://t3aonline.net/)) so people can once again play BFME1 and BFME2 the way they could before the server were taken down by EA.
We've also recently translated this effort towards Generals and Zero Hour (and other C&C games) in the form of C&C:Online (http://cnc-online.net/).
Just wanted to let you know your work on these games continues to be appreciated and supported.
Thanks!
Mark:
Hi there - thx for the note! Really appreciate the work you've done to keep those games "alive". I'm impressed and honored by the work you guys are doing. I'm going to check out your sites!

He's one of my personal heroes ever since I heard him narrate the BFME development vlogs back in 2003.
