Hi, I have a problem with my bfme.

I recently bought a new pc, and it doesnt support cd etc, so I chose to download forshire online edition. I patched to 1.06 etc, and manually set my resolution to 1920x1080. But when I launch any map, its rly zoomed in, some might even say unplayble. I noticed the lower resolution I set, the better zoom-out I get, but ofc smaller screen.

I downloaded the widescreen patch from revora, and it didnt work, I also dl it from forshire blog, same thing. ICT helped me fix my zoom on fords of isen map, by creating a file I'll link.

I would like to have this sort of zoom-out http://i.imgur.com/yislpmJ.png

but right now I have this http://i.imgur.com/ZPvcA3R.png

ICT suggested I use worldbuilder and change the camera settings there for all maps, but I my top priorities would be Lebenin and lebening. But I would highly appreciate all maps if possible :(.

/Kind regards

The widescreen patch should fix this problem... ICT made a small widescreen patch for you apparently, just for FoS... but isn't it still the same thing?

How exactly do you install it?

He told me the same thing, but appearntly it didnt, I showed him my installation directory aswell and everything seems to be good.

I installed the online edition normally, and first I tried dowloading 1.06 patch and manually place it in the install directory etc, then I reinstalled online edition and downloaded the 1.06exe file here on revora, and installed again, same results.

Its like this, the bigger screen, the worse zoomout i get.

Edit: to make it super clear, the widescreen patch, wsmap or w/e its called, is in my bfme directory atm.

I would recommend torrenting a regular version of the game and see if it happens there as well. That way you have a better idea where the issue is.

Okay, so went through all the trouble of downloading the game, installing it etc, and patching it to 1.06. Ran the game and I'm literally an inch over the ground, so can not even see my castle at full zoom-out. With the widescreen file, I get the exact same view I had with the forshire edition. So basically did everything for nothin lol.

Edit: ICT suggested I use worldbuilder and change the camera settings there for all maps, Since I do have the worldbuilder availble now, this can be possible. Only that I have absolutely no experience ever working with that program, and could definetly need some help  :(

This is a very strange problem, then. I don't see why your game would not read something from the installation directory. You *do* mean the installation directory, and not My Battle for Middle-earth Files (the place you'd install maps), right?

Im not fully up to speed on whats happening in BFME1 but I do know that sometimes the game randomly wont read certain .bigs.

Whatever the widescreen .big is, try renaming it with a few underscores in front of it eg ___wspatch106.big so that it appears alphabetically at the top.

The point is that the game reads everything correctly but apparently it does not look like the zoom out yoshi had before. Of course you should expect some changes in the perspective with a different resolution due to the way the game does not really support widescreen but normally it is well playable with 1920-1080 and the standard wsmaps file.

Did 106 add true widescreen support? Aka, a heap of edited APT's like patch 108.

Some people confuse map zoom with widescreen support, naturally the game stretches the InGame UI to fit on WS monitors and hence the need for modified APTS. Map zoom is of course another ballpark. Looks to me like this person is gunna have to modifiy his maps

Yes I still wonder why someone originally called the wsmaps file to be widescreen support and now everyone gets confused by that.

Kwen, I hope you are able to fix the last issues ;).

Hi guys, so its like this basicly..... WITH the wsmapsfile my game looks like this http://i.imgur.com/ZPvcA3R.png, and without it its much worse. ICT managed to fix fords of isen atleast with better zoomout which was acually playable.

And he said its possible to fix with worldbuilder, and I tried my best with it but I have no idea what Im doing.

Yoshi this really is what everyone is using. Normal settings without _wsmaps.big was what people were playing in quickmatch for many years!

Yeah I'm going to have to tell you that those settings you linked are standard. That's what everyone plays.

It probably is when used on a non-widescreen monitor. :p
