Movies often use females for costumes and cosmetics since they usually have slimmer features compared to males. Especially in the face and head. It is very common practice to hide a female under bulky costumes since you can build-up on a female figure, while the common male figure often requires reduction, which is obviously not quite as easy. Sort of surprising how many character designs like this, even masculine monster makeups, use females.

Actually on the picture only the right one looked feminine. The lighter skinned one obviously had a man face.
